Over the weekend DEF LEPPARD guitarist VIVIAN CAMPBELL stated that his cancer had returned and he would be standing aside to recieve treatment. Today Vivian has just posted the great news that he will be able to rejoin the band's tour this weekend.

From Viv: "So, so happy to report that I've dodged the bullet of radiation. I was due to start a course that would have sidelined me for most of the first leg of the US tour, but my brilliant doctors have steered me towards an alternative course of treatment that will enable me to rejoin the tour this Saturday night in Birmingham Alabama. Furthermore, they've tailored future treatments to accommodate the tour schedule so I won't have to miss any more shows. I'm so happy and so indebted to the wonderful physicians who have worked so hard on my behalf to make this happen. See you Saturday!"

Vivian's past 2 updates:

"I'm overwhelmed by the support and well-wishes that everyone has sent to me. Thank you all so very much - it means a lot to me."

"I'm saddened by the fact that my cancer has returned. However, I'm beyond consolation that it's return will prevent me from being able to do my job for a while. I’m still working on a schedule of treatment with my doctors, but I will see you all very soon. My apologies."

GET WELL SOON VIVIAN!

VAN HALEN Once United

I was going to sum up the last few days in the tumpultous world of Van Halen, but then I got this newsellter from Van Halen Rising author Greg Renoff. Makes for a good short summary and a nice diversion:

"The past week has been a tumultuous one on Planet Van Halen.

In a brutally frank interview with Billboard, Eddie minimized the contributions of former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony.

His words quickly went viral.

When Sammy then blasted Eddie in defense of Anthony, calling Eddie a liar, it too made headlines around the web.

But earlier in the week, Hagar had lodged another charge against Eddie and Alex Van Halen. Sammy told Eddie Trunk that the brothers had taken legal action to stop Hagar from performing Van Hagar songs when Hagar's band, the Circle, performs on TV.

Are we having fun yet?

All of these events reminded me of story I had to leave out of Van Halen Rising because of space issues. It involves a 1976 legal dispute that saw the four members of Van Halen unified in their efforts to support their band.

It's a good reminder that at one time, Van Halen was a four-man gang with an us-against-the-world mentality."

In 1976, Daniel Sullivan, then just out of college, was a concert promoter in Los Angeles. Back in 1974, he'd gone to Pasadena City College with David Lee Roth and had become friends with him. The following year, he'd put on successful shows featuring Van Halen at LaCañada High School.

To kick off the Bicentennial Year, Sullivan hired Van Halen for $500.00 to play a show on February 27 at Glendale High School.

Early ticket sales were brisk, and Sullivan was sure this would be his biggest gig yet.
Then the city of Glendale came calling.

Photographer Mary Garson, who shot pictures at Sullivan's shows, recalls what happened: "Dan promoted the show, sold tickets, did the contract. He did everything right except get an insurance bond with the city of Glendale. The city wouldn't let him do the show without one. He told me, 'I'm screwed. I've sold several hundred tickets, but the city says I need a $50,000 insurance bond. I don't have the money to pay for it.'"

Sullivan had to cancel the concert.

So he began refunding tickets, and called David Lee Roth to tell him the bad news.

Roth didn't take it well.

Roth told Sullivan, "Hey, well, you still owe us 500 bucks."

Eddie, it turns out, was even more fixated on the fact that Sullivan had signed a contract promising to pay the band $500. Even though the show didn't happen, Eddie still wanted Sullivan to pay. "Eddie was pretty adamant about it," Sullivan told me in 2012. "I said, 'Look, I can't do it. I don't have the money. I’ll do another show for you guys or whatever.'"

Eddie replied, "No, I want the 500 bucks."

When Sullivan said again that he didn't have the money, the band said we'll see you in court.
___

"So they ended up suing me in Small Claims court in Glendale," Sullivan recalls. "I was bummed, especially because even though we were in small claims, we were still friends. It was weird.

"So my Dad and I come in to the courtroom and there’s the band, on the other side of the court, all of them, dressed in suits.

"I swear to God it was the most amazing thing. I was just a kid, and I'm with my Dad, and here's Van Halen on the other side of the court. David Roth represented the band. He said that I broke the contract and didn’t follow through with the contract. In the end, they won a judgment for 500 bucks against me."

But Sullivan never paid. Garson recalls that the judge didn't attach a payment plan schedule to the ruling, so Sullivan just didn't ever settle the claim.
___

More than two years later, Sullivan had lost touch with the band and was living in London. Then one day in the fall of 1978, he got a big surprise: "I'm taking a bus down these streets and I see this sign, a rainbow-colored poster saying Van Halen is playing at the Rainbow Theater."

Sullivan showed up for the show on October 22, 1978. After the gig, he had a roadie bring a note to the band members.

He recalls what happened next.

"David, Alex, and Eddie came out and they were so sweet, especially David. He was like, 'Daaannn! How ahh yah ya mothafucka?' It was just the coolest thing ever. I was probably one of the few people there other than the crew who had seen them on the other side of the Atlantic.

"So the show's over and we're looking for some place to go but everything in London was shutting down for the night. So I went to all these private [after-hours] clubs with them. It was amazing."

Billboard Cover Sneak Peek: 5 Ways Eddie Van Halen Breaks the Rock-Star Rules
By  | June 18, 2015 10:35 PM EDT
Van Halen is about to embark on a 40-plus-date North American tour. But when legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen takes the stage with the band (starting July in Seattle), fans won't be in the presence of a typical hell-raising rock star, even if his technique did inspire scores of hell-raising metal bands. He's been sober since 2008, but kicking alcohol is only the tip of the iceberg.
For Billboard's latest cover story, out Friday, June 19, we caught up with Eddie Van Halen, who wasn't shy about his atypical rock star ways. He hates touring (and doesn't have much of a relationship with flamboyant frontman David Lee Roth), but is hitting the road anyway. He continues to make new music (Van Halen released a the LP A Different Kind of Truth in 2012) but doesn't listen to anyone else's music, new or old. Here are five reasons there's no other rocker quite like Eddie Van Halen:
1. He Partied in His Heyday, But Not Exactly Like a Rock Star
Like the rest of Van Halen, Eddie indulged in drugs and alcohol, but not while partying. Drug and alcohol-free since 2008, he told Billboard about how he would get drunk and snort cocaine alone at night in hotel rooms, just to experiment with the guitar: "The blow keeps you awake and the alcohol lowers your inhibitions," Van Halen says. "I'm sure there were musical things I would not have attempted were I not in that mental state."
2. He Doesn't Listen to Any New Music
Not only does he not listen to old Van Halen records, but the guitarist hasn't purchased new music since 1986. That special album was Peter Gabriel's So. And new music? Don't even think about it. "I couldn't make a contemporary record if I wanted to, because I don't know what contemporary music sounds like," he admitted to Billboard. He does occasionally listen to Yo-Yo Ma (because he love the sound of the cello), so there's that.
3. He Dresses Normcore
Okay, so there are punk and indie musicians who rock the regular Joe look, but few rock stars from Van Halen's era will say, "I'm a T-shirt and jeans guy." And he definitely didn't bond with former Van Halen singer Gary Cherone over clothing choices: "We were getting ready to go on tour, and all of a sudden I see this John Travolta outfit -- these big lapels and a crazy jacket. He's like, 'This is my stage outfit.' That's when I realized it wasn't going to work," says
4. He Played on Michael Jackson's Iconic 'Beat It' -- But Doesn't Think It's a Big Deal
When asked about playing the guitar solo on Michael Jackson's "Beat It," Van Halen simply refers to it as "20 minutes of my life," and figures he probably should have gotten songwriting credit, but doesn't seem to care much for not making any money off it:
"I literally thought to myself, 'Who is possibly going to know if I play on this kid's record?' So I went to the studio and listened to the song twice, and I didn't like the section they wanted me to solo over. They wanted me to solo over the breakdown. I asked [Thriller producer] Quincy Jones to edit the chords underneath the solo," he recalls. "Then I could play the solo in the key of E, but it was the chords underneath that made the solo interesting. So I guess I did rearrange it."
5. He Doesn't Remember His Own Band's Lyrics
Aside from not being able to read music, Eddie admits he's also forgotten many of the lyrics to Van Halen's songs. And though he barely has a relationship with David Lee Roth, he soldiers on for the fans: "I think it's now built into people's DNA, that it just won't be Van Halen if it's not Roth's voice," he explains. "You make music for people. Otherwise, just play in your closet. And how do you reach the most people? By giving them the band that they know. To do it any other way would be selfish.”

IRON MAIDEN Open Their 'Book Of Souls' September 4

Artist:
Friday, September 4, 2015
Categories:
News Feed

IRON MAIDEN’s eagerly awaited new studio album The Book Of Souls will be released globally on 4th September through Parlophone Records (BMG in the U.S.A.). It was recorded in Paris with their longstanding producer Kevin “Caveman” Shirley in late 2014, with the finishing touches added earlier this year.  However, the band decided to delay its release so that vocalist Bruce Dickinson, who was recently given the all-clear from a tumour, would have time to recuperate sufficiently to join in the preparations for the album’s launch.

The stunning cover art was created by Mark Wilkinson, who has worked with the band previously, and because this 11-track album has a total running time of 92 minutes, it is IRON MAIDEN’s first ever double studio album.  There’s a broader split on the songwriting compared to previous Maiden records, with bassist and founder member Steve Harris contributing to seven of the tracks; 6 of them with Maiden’s guitarists and one sole composition.  This is also the first time since 1984’s Powerslave  that an IRON MAIDEN studio album also features two tracks written solely by Bruce Dickinson,  one of which is the longest song Maiden has ever recorded! And also two Dickinson/Smith collaborations.

Steve comments,

“We approached this album in a different way to how we’ve recorded previously.  A lot of the songs were actually written while we were there in the studio and we rehearsed and recorded them straight away while they were still fresh, and I think that immediacy really shows in the songs, they have almost a live feel to them, I think. I’m very proud of The Book Of Souls, we all are, and we can’t wait for our fans to hear it, and especially to take it out on the road next year!”

Bruce continues,

“We’re really excited about The Book Of Souls and had a fantastic time creating it. We started working on the album in late summer 2014 and recorded it at Guillame Tell Studios in Paris, where we’d done the Brave New World album back in 2000 so the studio holds special memories for all of us. We were delighted to discover the same magical vibe is still alive and very much kicking there! So we immediately felt at home and the ideas just started flowing. By the time we’d finished we all agreed that each track was such an integral part of the whole body of work that if it needed to be a double album, then double its going to be!”

The full tracklisting is:

Disc 1
1. If Eternity Should Fail (Dickinson) 8:28
2. Speed Of Light (Smith/ Dickinson) 5:01
3. The Great Unknown (Smith/ Harris) 6:37
4. The Red And The Black (Harris) 13:33
5. When The River Runs Deep (Smith/ Harris) 5:52
6. The Book Of Souls (Gers/ Harris) 10:27

Disc 2
7. Death Or Glory (Smith/ Dickinson) 5:13
8. Shadows Of The Valley (Gers/ Harris) 7:32
9. Tears Of A Clown (Smith/ Harris) 4:59
10. The Man Of Sorrows (Murray/ Harris) 6:28
11. Empire Of The Clouds (Dickinson) 18:01

Formats:
2CD deluxe hardbound book limited edition
2CD standard edition
Triple heavyweight black vinyl
High res audio (24-bit Mastered for ITunes and non-Mastered for iTunes)
Standard res audio (16 bit/ 44.1 kHz)

The Book Of Souls is the band’s 16th studio album since their eponymous debut in 1980 charted at #4 in the UK, in a career achieving sales of over 90 million albums worldwide. Their previous album, 2010’s The Final Frontier  was Maiden’s most successful chart-wise to date, reaching Number One in 28 countries and was their highest chart debut in the U.S reaching #4 in the Billboard 200.

Due to Bruce’s illness the band had to delay touring plans but promise to be out on the road again early next year, giving time for Bruce to make a full physical recovery to be ready for the rigours of Maiden live performances.

Disappointing news today with British AOR group IN FAITH declared as "terminated" by guitarist Tony Marshall.

His statement reads: "For what it matters, which is very little to anyone really. I found out today, via a frontiers press release, that Pete Godfrey had left In Faith to "do an album the right way" with Blood Red Saints. I had no idea this was going to happen and even a brief conversation with pete a few weeks ago ended with a positive response to whether another album was going to be done. It seems not.
I wish both Pete's the best for their future with BRS.
In Faith has now officially been terminated.

PRAYING MANTIS Add To Their 'Legacy' August 21

Friday, August 21, 2015

PRAYING MANTIS are finally ready to unleash their tenth studio album, “Legacy” via Frontiers Records on August 21 in Europe and North America.

The early reactions to the new songs have been outstanding and there is a real buzz beginning to emerge that this could arguably be the best album that Mantis have ever made! Bold words to be sure, but this is more than mere record label hyperbole.....

“Legacy” is the first recording to feature the two new members, Jaycee Cuijpers and Hans in’t Zandt (vocals and drums respectively), who have truly provided a new dimension to the writing process and musical performances. Together with guitarists Tino Troy and Andy Burgess, they have been instrumental not only in the writing of the new songs, but in providing a new vision in terms of the sound engineering and production. The recording of the album was carried out in various recording studios in Belgium, Netherlands and UK.

As per the previous record, “Sanctuary”, the mixing of the new album was done by Andrew Riley in his studio in Atlanta. The first single, “Fight For Your Honour” will be accompanied by a video shot while the band performed the song for the first time at their acclaimed performance at the Frontiers Rock Festival II in Milan, Italy.

One of the most influential and famous artists in the rock field, Rodney Matthews (Magnum, Diamond Head, Allen/Lande) has been commissioned to do the artwork for the album in the same style and stunning quality that so many fans loved on the original Mantis albums like “Time Tells No Lies” and the later album “Predator In Disguise”.

Praying Mantis are a well-established band of melodic hard rockers. They were formed by brothers Tino and Chris Troy in 1973 and together with bands like Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Saxon, and others they spearheaded the NWOBHM movement. While they did not see the same dizzying heights of success as some of their contemporaries, Praying Mantis nonetheless became one of THE most influential bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). The band has remained active over the years and still record and play live regularly.

Praying Mantis are: John Cuijpers – Lead Vocals, Tino Troy – Guitars & Vocals, Chris Troy – Bass & Vocals, Andy Burgess – Guitars + Vocals, Hans in ‘t Zandt – Drums

Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce the release of the brand new studio album from ROYAL HUNT entitled “Devil’s Dozen” on August 21st in Europe and North America.

With keyboardist and songwriter André Andersen still at the helm, ROYAL HUNT have once again created an album that combines the basic sound and core values of classic rock with progressive rock and more current musical elements. After selling approximately 1.7 million albums globally and touring the world numerous times, the band’s still going strong…and now gets to release their 13th studio album entitled “The Devil´s Dozen”.

André Andersen says: “We´re very pleased to be able to present our new, thirteenth studio album. While staying on course with all traditional Royal Hunt´s  musical values this one contains quite a bit of variety – from an up-tempo, double kick driven “May You Never (Walk Alone)” to the bluesy “Heart On A Platter” and probably our best ballad to date – “Until The Day”.  Counting in Royal Hunt´s usual attention to details – playing wise as well as production wise – I´m sure that any fan of symphonic/melodic yet hard rocking music will be pleased with our latest offering.”

The new recording stays true to the original, larger-than-life Royal Hunt sound, with imaginative instrumentation, intricate arrangements, soaring vocals and catchy, massive choruses. Yet, the addition of classical musicians/instruments and contemporary, modern day production elements move to twist the outcome into a unique sonic palette. The album is chock full of carefully crafted songs, recorded and mixed by a team who combined crystal clear sonics with a weighty punch.

Featuring once again the talents of the awesome US singer DC Cooper – who, after numerous requests from fans and promoters worldwide decided to reunite with the band in 2011 – Royal Hunt features – besides André Andersen on keyboards - long time member Andreas Passmark on bass, Jonas Larsen on guitar and new drummer Andreas Habo Johansson (ex Narnia). Royal Rock… no substitutes!

“Devil’s Dozen” tracklisting: So Right So Wrong; May You Never (Walk Alone); Heart On A Platter; A Tear In The Rain; Until The Day; Riches To Rags; Way Too Late; How Do You Know (bonus track).

New AXE Release Is Repackaging of 'Anthology' Release; Deadline Deceiving Fans

Artist:
Release Year:
2015
Categories:

Deadline Music are attempting to rip off unsuspecting AXE fans by releasing a new compilation, which is simply a cheaper version of the already issued Axe Anthology release. here's the press release for the new release, which fails to mention it is merely a new name to an old title:

Los Angeles - Much to the excitement of rock fans worldwide, Deadline Music will be releasing a 2CD blockbuster career retrospective from one of the unsung heroes of classic hard rock who toured with every major metal act from Iron Maiden to KISS to Motley Crue, the indomitable AXE! The anthology includes the band's biggest hit single 'Rock 'n' Roll Party In The Streets,' plus select cuts from the much sought after first 2 studio albums and much more!

AXE was formed in 1978 from the ashes of a band called Babyface and began recording their first album, 'AXE' in 1979 and started a tour that lasted until 1984. Their second album, 'Living On The Edge', followed in 1980. In 1981, AXE changed labels and recorded 'Offering' for ATCO Atlantic featuring the hit 'Rock and Roll Party In the Streets.' The song reached #59 on the Billboard charts of the most-played-songs in 1982, and became a nationwide rock anthem. After 19 months of touring with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, the Scorpions, ZZ Top and Motley Crue, it was time to record the fourth AXE album - 'Nemesis'. Continued success meant more touring. Band leader Bobby Barth was seriously injured in a car crash that led to the disbanding AXE and later joining Blackfoot. After his stint with Blackfoot, Barth took his talents to Australia to join Angry Anderson (Rose Tattoo), hitting the Top 5 on the Australian charts.

The reformed 1997 AXE line up featured former Frank Zappa vocalist Bob Harris, Bobby Barth on guitars, Edgar Riley Jr on keyboards and original drummer Teddy Mueller plus bassist Blake Eberhard, and keyboardist Rob Lowe. To his credit, Bob Harris has performed with some of the greatest artists in the music industry. Covering vocals and keys for Frank Zappa, he proved his ability as an outstanding musician and writer. Blake Eberhard is one of Colorado's premier studio and live bassists. He joined AXE after being hired by Barth for several recording sessions, and added a new dimension to the AXE sound. In the interim period between the band's split and the reformation, Edgar Riley Jr had worked with Frank Zappa and had also played with several unidentified bands in the Southern states of America and Teddy Mueller had got involved in the publishing industry.

'AXE has been one of the greatest musical and personal adventures in my life. However, it was always bitter sweet, because the tragic death of Michael Osborne created the space that I later filled. I will always be thankful to my friend Mark Pinske for introducing me to Bobby Barth. From the start he mentored me into the band's style and graciously included me in the writing process, and became one of my dearest friends for life. AXE has always been about the music - not the hype - and I feel honored to be a part of it.' - Bob Harris

A brand new AXE album, 'AXE (Twenty Years From Home)' was released in September 1997 featuring re-recorded versions of choice tracks from each of the first four AXE albums, plus two from the recently released V record. For their 2001 album 'The Crown' the group inducted new personnel guitarist Danny Masters and drummer Christian Teele. AXE would release a limited edition mini album 'Live In America 1981' to commemorate their European 2001 tour dates. In the mid-2000's, AXE reformed again including singer Bob Harris and adding new members, Brad Banhagel, David Landes. The band toured throughout the US and Europe.

Now AXE fans worldwide are rejoicing with the pending release of AXE's 'Rock 'n' Roll Party In The Streets – The Best Of'!

THE MURDER OF MY SWEET Return With New Concept Album 'Beth Out of Hell'

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to welcome back to the label Swedish Symphonic Metal band, THE MURDER OF MY SWEET with the hotly anticipated worldwide release of a fascinating new concept album entitled "Beth Out of Hell" on August 21.

“Beth Out of Hell” is an apocalyptic love story where Lucifer’s Daughter falls in love with the Archangel Michael”, says charming singer Angelica Rylin. “The story in the new album basically takes off right where we left you with the last three songs of “Bye Bye Lullabye”.

“It took us three years to record this album and the reason for that is that we wanted to give the fans an album they truly deserve,” continues drummer and producer Daniel Flores. “We made a conscious effort to keep all the songs very interesting and diverse, much like in a film or a musical”.

The Murder of My Sweet released their debut album, “Divanity” in 2009 with Italian label Frontiers Music Srl and received swift, genuine praise from media around the world. Much of the praise was directed at the heavy orchestrations and Angelica Rylin’s strong, soaring vocals. Their first single, “Bleed me Dry”, reached a peak position of #14 on the Swedish international singles chart. In the summer of both 2010 and 2011, the band toured in Sweden, France and Germany and played at festivals like Sweden Rock, Rock Weekend, Baltic Festival, Raismes Fest and Wacken Open Air. The darker Nordic months were spent in the studio where Flores and Rylin worked on the follow up album “Bye, Bye Lullaby” which was released in 2012.

Now The Murder of My Sweet are back with their most ambitious and exciting album and will leave a definite mark in the current Symphonic Metal scene, with their unique and multi layered sound. The new album is definitely darker and heavier compared to their previous two records, but still features the trademark over-the-top symphonic arrangements, cinematic elements and riffs the band is known for. This release also marks the debut of the band’s new bass player, Patrik Janson (Platitude).

Enjoy the album EPK here:

“Beth Out of Hell” tracklisting: Hell On Earth; The Awakening; World In Ashes; Always The Fugitive; Bitter Love; Still; Humble Servant; Requiem For A Ghost; Euthanasia; Tide After Tide; Poets By Default; Heaven Succumb; Means To An End.

20-SONG COLLECTION CAPTURES THE LEGENDARY
ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAMERS
IN A CAREER-SPANNING PERFORMANCE AT
THE U.K.’S FAMED DONINGTON PARK

New York, NY (June 15, 2015)--As AEROSMITH gears up for their 2015 summer tour, a date has been announced for the release of Aerosmith Rocks Donington 2014.  Due out September 4, the 20-song collection captures the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famers delivering a scorching career-spanning show at the famed Donington Park in Leicestershire, UK in June 2014.  Filmed in high definition, the critically acclaimed concert film--which premiered in February with a highly successful nationwide theatrical run--will be available on multiple formats: Blu-ray+2CD, DVD+2CD, DVD+3LP and digital formats for North America and DVD, Blu-ray, DVD+2CD, DVD+3LP and digital formats for ROW/Europe.  Details about a special pre-sale--with bonus items--of Aerosmith Rocks Donington 2014 will be available in the coming weeks.

Headlining the massive Download Festival as part of the band’s “Let Rock Rule” tour, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton, and Brad Whitford unleashed supercharged versions of “Love In An Elevator,” “Janie’s Got A Gun,” “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing,” “Dude Looks Like A Lady,” “Walk This Way,” “Dream On,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Toys In The Attic,” “Mama Kin,” and many more.

In the Aerosmith Rocks Donington 2014 liner notes, David Wild--Contributing Editor, Rolling Stone--describes the performance as having “the same kind of power and overwhelming passion that has always remained at the very heart of the live Aerosmith experience…So whether you were fortunate enough to be there among the crowds at Donington Park that gloriously atmospheric night in 2014--or more likely, if you are just lucky enough to catch up after the fact today--there is only one appropriate shared reaction to what you are seeing and hearing here: genuine rock & roll shock and awe.”

"It's always an absolute hoot that leaves me howling at the moon, performing at Donington we couldn't have had a better time on stage that night,” says Steven Tyler.  “I could feel the vibes of all the greats pulsing through the stage like AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica and so many more.”

“We have played Donington many times but this performance was one of our best,” recalls Joe Perry. “Thanks to our fans who were there who helped us make it a night to remember.  We are proud to have it be part of this theatrical series and it will give our fans who weren’t there around the world a chance to relive an ass kicking night of rock and roll.”

"We’re really proud and grateful to have been chosen to headline the Download festival at Donington for 2014,” Tom Hamilton adds. “It was an awesome experience and I think this film captures it.  Special thanks to the insane fans who stuck with us through mud and rain.”

“I'm grateful to have been able to play this show at Donington,” says Joey Kramer. “I thought the band played great, the audience was great. That night was a very special time.”

“Playing in Donington has always been a highlight of the tour for us,” adds Brad Whitford. “The fervor of the crowd there is a sight to behold and this night was no different.”

Fans can now bring home the live experience of Aerosmith Rocks Donington 2014Breaking down the long-lasting appeal of the band and the contributions of each of its members, Wild writes in the liner notes:

●“Has any frontman ever stayed as deeply connected to the true spirit of rock & roll than Steven Tyler? The man’s muse does just not seem to contain an off-switch, and somehow he continues to have more energy onstage now than ever before…take a good look at Tyler on fire here…Tyler’s voice remains a tremendous force of nature…”

●“[Perry’s] delivered some of the most thrilling and iconic guitar solos in all of rock history…the man is not simply one of our all-time greatest guitarists…Perry has also more than earned his place in the Songwriters Hall of Fame along with Steven Tyler, further validation of their shared place as one of rock’s most respected songwriting teams ever.”

●“Among many other virtues, Aerosmith is arguably the most soulful band in rock history, and a lot of the credit for that goes to powerhouse yet funky drummer Joey Kramer…Kramer’s strong sense of feel provided Aerosmith with a solid foundation that keeps the band pumping…Kramer is the man credited with giving the band its eternally cool name.”

●“Rock solid bassist Tom Hamilton is much more than simply half of one of hard rock’s best and most versatile rhythm sections…Hamilton is not just a fine musician--he has also co-written a few of the most beloved Aerosmith classics…namely ‘Sweet Emotion’ and ‘Janie’s Got A Gun,’ as well as a number of other fan favorites.”

●“…[Brad Whitford is]…perhaps the group’s most effective secret musical weapon…known as Aerosmith’s band’s rhythm guitarist…Whitford has shown himself to be the absolute perfect guitar slinger to partner with Joe Perry--a more trained axe ace who has done so much to allow Aerosmith to consistently sound like a massive guitar army, and even better yet, one that always wins.”
