FOZZY have announced that their seventh studio album Judas will arrive on October 13 via Century Media.

FOZZY have already experienced incredible success with the “Judas” single. The official music video has accumulated almost 9 million views in just a few months, and the song hit No. 1 on iTunes charts in eight countries. Vocalist Chris Jericho went to bat for the single, eventually convincing Century Media to release “Judas” as the new album’s flagship cut.After their hugest charting (#54 on the Billboard 200) and most successful record, 2014's "Do You Wanna Start A War" and subsequent tour finished at the end of 2015, the band began focusing on taking their future to a new level creatively and enlisted critically acclaimed song writer Johnny Andrews to produce the new record. With Andrews, Ward and Jericho (the team who created FOZZY's highest charting single "Lights Go Out") at the helm, FOZZY spent 2016 crafting their new masterpiece for a spring 2017 release.

The success of the single Judas is mindblowing!

‘’I think it's the right song at the right place at the right time. I think there's been a lot of goodwill towards Fozzy over the years with a slow and steady build. And I think that I had such a huge year last year in 2016 in the WWE that a lot of people wanted to check out why I left the WWE to go to Fozzy and they gave us a chance when they hadn't in the past. And as a result, heard this song Judas, which is our best song. So, hooky, so heavy, so dark the lyrics are very dark. Everyone can relate to those lyrics. I think like I said it's just a great piece of timing and that so many people check out the band that never had in the past. And then hearing this amazing song with these lyrics that everybody can relate to ‘’Everyone I've Ever Loved I've Pushed Them All Away’’

It's about making the wrong decision knowing that you're making the wrong decision listening to the Judas in your mind and betraying yourself. So, I think all those things combined with a killer video, a great team, the return of Paul DiLeo. All of these things really, just all kind of compounded at the right time to create this perfect storm of Judas which is now a top 20 billboard which is awesome.’’

What can we expect from Judas the album:

Well I mean if you like Judas the song, there was actually a big debate with the record company as to what the first single should be. There's so many great songs on this I think if this was like 1987 in the days of Hysteria and Appetite for Destruction when you saw a band that had five or six singles. This is that type of record. There was a lot of argument about whether Painless should be the single or Elevator or Weight Of My World and now Drinkin’ With Jesus is in contention so there's a lot of great songs on the record. It's very much a more compact album. It's very much more about the songs and very much, is this song a single if it's not if it doesn't have a single potential let's not even put it on the record so we have 11 singles on this record which is the way we wanted. It took a long time to get it right. We didn't even record a couple of songs that we wrote for it, they just weren’t right. So these are the best 11 songs that we that we have, all of them could be hits. And as we’ve seen with Judas I think this record is going to take us to a completely different level, all across the board.

The writing process is a lot different this time around:

Before it was always Rich who wrote the music and I wrote the lyrics. We worked with Johnny Andrews last record for lights go out which was our biggest song to date and we decided we wanted to use an outside producer for this record. You know like Kiss with Bob Ezrin or Metallica with Bob Rock. Not that we’re those bands but it's the same vibe that you want to do something different and there wasn't anybody named Bob available apparently. So we went with Johnny Andrews because we had really enjoyed working with him on Lights Go Out and he produced the record and he co-wrote all the songs with Rich. I submitted all my lyrics and three of them were used which are Running With The Bulls, Wordsworth Way and Three Days In Jail but the rest are all Johnny and Rich collaborations. So they write them and I sell them. It really doesn't matter. It's just whatever's best for the song. And we had a great songwriting team in Rich and Johnny and the contributions that I made, the lyrics that I contributed. And once again every song, not worried about if there's a solo on it, Judas doesn't even have a soul it's just got a really cool middle Queen section. A lot of it would always be like well let's write a song with a crazy solo in it in a 4-minute intro and all that's gone. It's very compact is very much what AC/DC did when they worked with Mutt Lang also a Robert. Lot of Robert's man. We need to find Robert but we found Johnny and it's even better for us.

When can Australian fans we can expect a tour:

We've been waiting to come back to Australia since 2013. We were lucky enough to tour there twice in 2013 on the Soundwave tour with Metallica and then with Steel Panther, great times. Australia is one of our favorite places to go. We've been there I think four or five times now with Fozzy but we haven't been there since the Do You Want To Start A War Record came out which is 2014. I remember we listened to the demos for Do You Want To Start A War Record in our hotel room on that tour with Steel Panther so we got to make it back there. That's one of our goals and I know there's a lot of people waiting to see us and we are super excited about Australia. One of our favorite countries to tour in, Foztralia, Fozzy in Aussie has to happen again. So we're looking forward to doing that on this tour cycle. Hopefully in 2018 for sure.

Los Angeles hard rockers HEAVEN & EARTH release HARD TO KILL, October 6 on Quarto Valley Records. It’s available to pre-order via HEAVEN & EARTH’s PledgeMusic campaign. In addition to pre-ordering HARD TO KILL, fans can purchase a range of exclusive merchandise and special offerings from the band, including signed albums, guitars, posters and lyric sheets, Skype lessons with each band member, and even a Skype cooking lesson with singer Joe Retta. HEAVEN & EARTH features Joe Retta (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica), Stuart Smith (guitars), Lynn Sorensen (bass and vocals), keyboardist Ty Baillie (who has played with Katy Perry and Robbie Robertson), and essential to the album with his songwriting and drumming is Kenny Aronoff, who has been a sideman to countless bands both live and in-studio including Bob Seger, John Mellencamp, and the Rolling Stones. His distinctive style and energyis one to behold on HARD TO KILL. While on tour, the band includes musicians Mike Mangan (Hammond organ and keyboards) and Steven Wilson (drums, percussion, vocals).

Taking HARD TO KILL as a whole, the 11 original songs ring true and the melodies unfold like you have known them your whole life. The title track serves as the band’s anthem, a testament to perseverance and the power of rock. “L.A. Blues” exposes the pitfalls of living in the City of Angels, while “The Game Has Changed” dramatically contrasts the past with the present. Meanwhile, “Til It’s Over” will earn the admiration of longtime rock listeners, just as the attitude in “Bleed Me Dry” and “Walk Away” will speak to any modern music fan.

With guidance from Ritchie Blackmore, Smith’s own performing career took him across Europe with various bands, through New York City, and ultimately to Los Angeles where he first formed HEAVEN & EARTH. The band released two previous albums before he met singer Joe Retta about a decade

HEAVEN & EARTH founder/guitarist Stuart Smith was born in Great Britain, the son of an RAF jet fighter pilot, and he was originally classically trained on the guitar from the age of 8. After seeing a Deep Purple concert in the early ‘70s, he got turned on to rock & roll. When he was 19 years old, he met guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and the two became fast friends. Blackmore instantly took Smith under his wing and mentored him.ago, when both men were touring with The Sweet, known for the classic hits “Ballroom Blitz” and “Fox On The Run.” After developing a strong writing partnership, Retta and Smith joined forces to continue the HEAVEN & EARTH legacy.

A native of Rochester, NY, Retta established himself as one of the most versatile singers in Los Angeles. He has performed with The Sweet, Gregg Rolie, Dio Disciples, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. With Retta out in front, his powerful vocals and world-class musicianship are integral to HEAVEN & EARTH’s epic sound.

Bassist Lynn Sorensen, a Seattle native, has performed all across the globe with Bad Company and in Paul Rodgers’ band. As a teen, Sorensen studied classical violin and viola; to this day, he maintains a passion for classical music.

LICENCE, the band from Ludwigsburg/Germany is the brainchild of local guitar hero and songwriter Steam Thiess. After a break for a few years he decided he has too much musical creativity to let it go and he wants to get back into business.

In May 2014 he founded LICENCE and was looking for musicians who'd fit into the band. To find the singer was easy, his daughter Jacky had just what he was looking for! With an amazing presence and rocking voice the first piece to the puzzle was solved. With bassist Pappe and drummer Sammy Sin they recruited the two perfect missing links.

They soon played shows with bands like TERRANA, STORMWITCH, PRAYING MANTIS, STOP STOP, TRI STATE CORNER & TWENTYDARKSEVEN, followed by festivals alongside SAXON, THE POODLES and many more.

The pre-production in 2016 ended in recordings for their debut album „Licence 2 Rock“, which was mixed and mastered by none other than Achim Köhler, known for his work with PRIMAL FEAR, BRAINSTORM and many others. The record shows the whole facettes of the LICENCE sound. Back to the 80s without sounding outdated. Heavy, melodic and always keeping you on the edge of your seat. Once you hear the songs they will remain stuck in your head.

Four years after Adrian Vandenberg made a spectacular comeback with Vandenberg’s Moonkings the band returns with a sophomore album, simply titled MK II. The album has all the qualities of the debut: once again the four-piece band manages to create a perfect mix of vintage seventies hard rock and current styles of heavy rock. Adrian Vandenberg shines as a bonafide guitar virtuoso, while the rest of the band also delivers in spades. Yet MK II has even more to offer than the highly praised first album. It shows how the band grew into a strong unit during the world tours of the recent years.

‘The last few years have been very important indeed’, confirms Adrian Vandenberg, who previously gained world fame as the guitarist and songwriter of Vandenberg and Whitesnake. ‘We just got to know each other when we recorded out debut album. I think we all exceeded each other’s expectations. But you really get to know each other while on the road. It was then that I really became impressed by the abundance of energy that this band has. We tried to capture this on our new album. At the same time, we all grew individually. I am really amazed by the way Jan Hoving has grown even more in his role as a singer and as a front man. I’ve played with the best bass players and drummers in my extensive career, but with all respect I dare to say that Sem Christoffel and drummer Mart Nijen Es form the best rhythm section I ever had the pleasure of working with.

Guitarist LOU DIBELLO Fires It Up On 'Heatwave'

The art of six-stringer shredding has unquestionably come back to forefront in modern day hard rock and heavy metal music. And talented guitarist Lou DiBello will soon be leaving his own mark on the genre, with the release of his album, ‘Heat Wave.’ The album features input from current or former members of Manowar (guitarist Ross “The Boss” Friedman) and Symphony X (bassist Mike Lepond), and is chockfull of headbanging rockers and six-string showcases, especially the tune “Full Throttle,” which can be sampled here:

"Heat Wave is my 4th solo release and by far my best effort to date,” explains DiBello. “The fact that I worked with such a great group of people was key, most notably singer Carsten Schulz, bassist Mike LePond, and legendary guitarist Ross ‘The Boss’ Friedman. It was a real honor to have Ross play dueling leads and harmonies with me on the epic track ‘Blood on the Cross,’ and he gave me valuable advice along the way as well. The record is a nice blend of hard rock/metal with vocals as well as instrumental tracks with a real emphasis on good songs with great guitar playing, as opposed to just great guitar playing. All out rocker ‘Let Me Hear You Scream - Rock & Roll!,’ as well as instrumental tracks ‘Full Throttle’ and my take on the Michael Schenker classic ‘Into the Arena’ are a few of the highlights.”

DiBello - who is an honors graduate from Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, California - has been a veteran of the Central Illinois music scene since the late ‘80s. Additionally, he has played over 2,500 paid performances, 600 in last 5 years alone, plus countless opening slots for acts like .38 Special, Slaughter, LA Guns, Molly Hatchet, Foghat, Quiet Riot, Survivor, Black Crowes, Blue Oyster Cult, and more. As an instructor, DiBello has given over 25,000 private lessons, and started one of the first streaming guitar lesson websites."

The guitarist also feels he has a lot to offer in the areas of instruction and collaboration with other artists, as he is a flexible player in a range of styles and enjoys playing in many different settings. Also, he is looking to place his music for licensing for TV and film.

To dovetail the release of their fifth studio album, H.E.A.T will tour the UK and Europe throughout November. The celebrated Swedish rock band will release their long awaited new album "Into The Great Unknown" on Friday 22nd September 2017 via earMUSIC.

The European leg of the tour will start in Copenhagen on Monday 30th October and the band will play their first show in the UK in Wolverhampton on Friday 17th November.

After one and a half years of intense song-writing, with guitarist Dave Dalone (aka Sky Davis) back in the mix, the band went on a questionable trip to record an album in Thailand, once again with Swedish Grammy award-winning producer Tobias Lindell. With 10 top songs in their cannon, H.E.A.T entered the heavenly Karma Sound studios in the outskirts of Bangkok to record what would become the fifth studio album. Once again the band continue the musical landscape with an innovative, highly explosive and refreshing melodic rock sound and an unforgettable collection of fantastic new songs.

"Into The Great Unknown" is the follow-up to 2014’s critically acclaimed "Tearing Down The Walls". 2012’s successful "Address The Nation" album was praised worldwide as one of the best albums of the year, and consolidated the H.E.A.T’s growing reputation as the new leading band in hard edged melodic rock. "Into The Great Unknown" is a rock and roll journey into the great unknown. The album delivers everything H.E.A.T is loved for - frontman Erik Grönwall’s incredible vocal talent and the band’s traditional approach to melodic rock.

In 2009, H.E.A.T had a huge hit in Scandinavia with the song "1000 Miles". That same year the band’s second album "Freedom Rock" was nominated as one of the Top 50 albums in 2010 by Classic Rock magazine UK. The name MECCA is synonymous with quality AOR and melodic rock. Each of the 3 albums released to date have been crafted over several years, with each song racking up a seriously impressive number of demos, alternative versions, re-writes and re-mixes before being labelled “done”.

So, while we wait for a new set of songs to go through that lengthy process, Joe Vana has given MelodicRock Records the green light to delve back into the many folders of Mecca music that has built up since the 2002 debut, to bring you a very cool limited edition release –

MECCA “The Demos”

But these aren’t any old demos; these are still of the highest quality and represent a rare insight into the recording process all artists go through.

MECCA “The Demos” will feature songs from all three of the Mecca albums, plus the songs exclusively featured on several past MRCD compilations and several others that have never previously been released.

Fans will hear songs you thought you knew, but with alternative lyrics or chorus hooks, plus work-in-progress home recordings, alternative mixes and even a couple of guest vocalists lending a hand.

MECCA “The Demos” will be restricted to 1000 units only and released November 3.

Full details of the 2-Disc set, along with an audio preview will be announced shortly.

Joe Vana has asked that I make a digital download of this set available for free to all that purchased any of the Mecca 3 Tshirt and/or LP packs. Mecca 3 LP refunds are currently being discussed after plans to manufacture have been scrapped after multiple attempts to get quality units produced efficiently and economically. As a continuing gesture by Joe to get all of his fans squared away, he has asked that those few fans that still haven't received a refund AND all those that ordered the Fan Pack get the free download....and this will be expanded to free downloads of Mecca IV (in the works) and other exciting projects slated for 2018 release.

SHAKRA Back With 'Snakes & Ladders' Nov 10

On November 10th, SHAKRA will release their new studio record "Snakes & Ladders". As in the game with the same title, the goal is to climb to the top. This is what SHAKRA as a band also have in mind. It’s been almost 2 years since "High Noon" was released, the comeback album with former leadsinger Mark Fox back on the microphone. "High Noon" made it to #2 in the swiss album charts and also entered the german charts.

The haunting melodies, the distinctive voice of Mark Fox, the striking guitar riffs from Thomas Muster, the emotional solos from lead guitarist Thom Blunier and the irrestistible grooves from Drummer Roger Tanner and bass player Dominik Pfister are all typical SHAKRA trademarks, which can be found again on "Snakes & Ladders". The opener "Cassandra‘s Curse", which lyrically is about the current world affairs, is a perfect example of all the trademarks mentioned above. Heavy riffs, an atmospheric verse and a powerful refrain.

The kickass rock song "Friday Nightmare" is followed by the title track "Snakes & Ladders": Up & down and the game’s going on. Sometimes you win, sometimes you fall. Sometimes everything just goes smoothly, but there are times when you gotta try again and again to reach your goal. Just roll the dice – at some point you will be where you wanna be!

"Together with ‚Cassandra’s Curse‘, ‚Something You Don’t Understand‘ is one of the best songs I’ve ever written", says a very proud Thomas Muster. The song is a great 80s inspired powerballad with an enthralling melodie and simple grooves that will stick in your head for sure.

All in all there are 12 brandnew SHAKRA tracks on "Snakes & Ladders", Shout out some singalongs to "The Seeds", feel the blues in "Rollin", listen to the straight Rock‘n’Roll song "Medicine Man" or just rock out to "I Will Rise Again" and "Fire In My Veins". We are sure every SHAKRA fan will be more than happy with the album.

So SHAKRA are definitely back on track! And by the way, "Snakes & Ladders", their 11th album so far, includes the Snakes & Ladders game on CD and Vinyl.

The Northrup Years

In 1987 four musicians were brought together by the legendary guitarist Ronnie Montrose and their shared manager. Those four were guitarist JK Northrup, Lead vocalist Johnny Edwards, bassist Larry Hart and J K’s long-time friend and drummer Glenn Hicks. Within two weeks they were rehearsing writing and in the studio recording with Ronnie Montrose, who was producing their first demo. It was immediately evident that there was a lot of electricity with the band! Drawing on such influences as Bad Company, Whitesnake and Humble Pie The band’s energy was powerful.

Almost immediately several major labels such as Geffen, Atlantic and MCA were coming to the shows and rehearsals showing great interest in signing the band. John Kalodner himself put the band into the studio to record a further six songs.

Although an agreement was not reached with any of the record labels the band recorded and demoed many songs over two years. They added a fifth member; rhythm guitarist Justin McDaid and continued playing, writing and showcasing until 1989 when they disbanded resulting in Edwards joining Foreigner and J K Northrup joining up with Paul Shortino for two albums.

This collection of 14 songs are a small portion of songs they wrote but they capture the spirit of what a great they actually were. Many of the songs were later performed and recorded by Foreigner, “Ready for the Rain”, “King Kobra”, “Burning in her fire”, “Wild Horses”, “Fire and Water”, “The Kid is Back in Town and “Rough Life” were recorded on the classic album “Back on Track” by Shortino and Northrup.

During 1988 JK Northrup, Johnny Edwards and Larry Hart were recruited by legendary drummer Carmine Appice to write, record and perform the King Kobra III album.

This is a classic case of a band that should have been a multi-platinum success and these songs we have here are a reminder of what a great group of musicians and prolific songwriters they are.
