I've spun it 3 times and it's clearly not in the same league as the first 3 cd's. I'm still settling in on it so I won't have a final judgement for a bit.
My initial thoughts are:
1. Delp is awesome
2. Victor and DeCarlo need more time and be higher in the mix
3. Chicks singing on Boston songs SUCK, if that's what you call it
4. The mix on most songs suck, the vocals are too muddy
5. There are at least 3 songs that stand the test of time
6. The fake ass drums SUCK
7. The layered vocals on some songs are AWESOME
8. The vibe of most songs and the overall feel of the cd has a positive vibe and represents the original Boston intent.
9. There are zero HFS moments on lead guitar. Tom, GO GET GOUDREAU BACK!
10. Sail Away may be the best song off the cd and demonstrates Delp had all of his shit right up to the end. The dude is Perry short of being Christ on a mic. One of the best EVER!
Is it Boston's best effort, no. Am I irritated with some the retred crap, yes. If you take it for what it is with no history, I think Mac's rating was a bit harsh (although I agree with all of his points made).
What I do know it's a boat load better than the POS Esclipse Journey released a couple of years back. I still have no clue how Mac came up with a 100 on that one!.
