Yeah--in the end,it's all in the individual's taste when it comes to Journey,Def Leppard,or I suppose ANY band/artist. I went back and listened to Human Feel & then City Of Hope on youtube. Then the remainder of the samples here, and I think it's a stellar record. Revelations was a fine, 'safe' cd that did it's job--introducing Arnel and encompassing that classic Escape/Frontiers/RoR and even a bit of the Augeri era styles. And it worked well for them. I give them high praise for coming out with this style of cd to follow up Revelations. Still sounds like Journey, but it's a deeper, heavier record. Some obviously want light(er) and fluffy Journey. They ain't gonna care for this and will cry 'No Hooks!' They can't/won't hear 'em,so --their loss. by comparison tho, this is NOTHING like the flipflop that DL tried with Slang or even X. As said-the classic sound of the band is still there. Slang was like some modern rock ilk and X was Bryan Adams II. With Eclipes--the band took elements of Red 13 and molded them into a cohesive AND accessable new cd along with much better production. I can hear elements of older Rolie era styles along with a bit of Augeri AND Revelation within the structures of Eclipse. As Andrew states--Brilliant! T
