Excellent record, streets ahead of most of the competition. And whether the band survives or not, nothing changes that. There's a long line of albums, feted by us lot, that were created by acts that never got out of the studio.

They were BL, then changed the name to Living Spirit. The demos they recorded were excellent, very AOR.

Great song. The band wrote it without Steve Harris, more than 20 years ago. Gary Liedeman (Asia, Psycho Motel, ASAP) was on bass then.

Very odd. Announcement that’s just gone out on Trev's FB page; “My dear friends and supporters. Unfortunately, my journey in LEVARA has ended. It’s been really hard to keep this information to myself for as long as I have. 6 weeks ago, the two other members of the band I put together and built from scratch, decided to boot me out of my band via email. It was a tough blow to the soul

Totally agree. And a poignant example that you can create music in this genre in 2021 that isn’t all mid tempo 4/4 ‘higher/fire/desire'.

Very classy. Chris is a wonderful player, and a terrific vocal from Tom Hollister. Clever vid too - it’s one single shot. https://youtu.be/ZXMQ4CgHxaE

I had a chat with an artist signed to Mascot. He was saying the strategy is to sign just one or two artists a year, and put their efforts behind developing them.

Great point Terry. Some really nice timing shifts in their material. Adds to the sense that they’re a cut above.

Wonderful. What a lyricist. No 'higher/fire/desire' there.

You could easily fill those slots with his solo material alone. Hugely distinctive voice, and what a lyricist.

This series of podcasts is great. Terry, you might enjoy this one. Lots of good chat about the early years, including some muso talk. https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9yc3MuYWNhc3QuY29tL3JvY2tvbnRldXJzLXdpdGgtZ2FyeS1rZW1wLWFuZC1ndXktcHJhdHQ/episode/OTU5MjQxMTQtZjUwNC00MDE4LWEyOTQtMGI1YTBhYjgyNTY5?hl=en-GB&ved=2ahUKEwirqMic_YfwAhUOXsAKHeByDp8QjrkEegQIBRAF&ep=6

Totally agree, truly wonderful song. The engineer should have been fired though, for fading out at the end and almost losing Lou hitting an insane note at 5:03; https://youtu.be/h-fz0ENmP7w

I’m as keen as you Carl, but it may well be that they wonder (along with so many other acts) how on earth they could deliver in 2021 something that that is up there in terms of quality, that we haven’t all heard a million times before. Truth is, in line with our obsession and fanatical need to collect remasters and reissues, after 50+ years or so of rock music there are now no unclaimed r

Truth is they wouldn’t sell any numbers these days, Terry. And much as we on here would love a new album, they’ve already delivered a catalogue that’s pretty much unrivalled.

You’re quite right Ross. I’d add that another aspect that makes Perry's recordings so special is his sense of timing. As well as his lead phrases, that way of arranging his backing vocals so that they are sometimes just behind the main melody, is sumptious.
