Hi Kevin, For the US - what I would do is physically go to the closest post office with a CD in hand and say, "hey, what's the most it would cost me to send this anywhere in the US under every option available?" (make sure insured & uninsured is included). Then jot down all the prices for each option and off you go. If you want to offer the no-jewel-case option, take one in that

Hey folks, I've now heard this fully thanks to a friend. It isn't as bad as I thought and some songs grew on me quite a bit. I stand corrected in that sense, but the album does have several filler tracks and the writing isn't up to par with previous D2 output. Definitely one of their lesser albums. Four the Hard Way, Gildersleeves, and Cockroach all best this by a mile. Even the lyrically

Hey, I translated the Spanish Gotthard interview for you folks (I was raised in Latin America). Forgive any mistakes, doing it on the fly.... Enjoy, Jack. Q: Leo, what's the meaning of the title "Need to Believe"? - Well, all of us in the band think that it's always good to believe in something, or in someone, as people. It's basically a call to believe in the thing you want in l

In my opinion, if your priority is sound quality, the leaders of the pack are Cowon and Sony. Zen and Sansa are good but can't match the same purity of sound, though they do have some great features (such as expandable memory on the Sansa). As for iPod, the only thing it leads in is aesthetics. After a LOT of homework, reading editorial reviews on CNET, consulting with the geek experts at any

I mean, I obviously now they're back from the frontpage....but who are they to begin with? What's the style? What songs or album do you recommend to check them out? Is it worth it? Cheers, Jack.

You do realize it's called football because...you move the ball with your foot? I'm fascinated by how so many in the US see football (sorry, soccer) as "boring" when it's a dynamic game that zips along with a quick back-and-forth rhythm, similar to, say, basketball. NFL football has long lulls in the game as they huddle together, strategize, take breaks, stop the play to reform, etc.

Hey folks, Apparently, Mark Spiro's daughters, Summer & Ruby, are also in the music business: http://www.myspace.com/rubysummer (there are actually photos of Mark in there) As is Dann Huff's daughter: http://www.myspace.com/ashlynehuff As is Eddie Money's daughter: http://www.myspace.com/jessiemoney Er...that is all. I just thought I'd mention it. Cheers, Jack.

Hey folks, I saw this video on YouTube and though I'd share. It hits a few points for thought-provoking discussion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Njuo1puB1lg Within the model, it's challenging to continually innovate and find new twists, new ways to make money that aren't obvious or traditional. If you operate from a lazy in-the-box thought process it's difficult to even conceive such thin

Hey folks, I actually like the numbers. The problem with relying on words is that things get murky for those of us trying to pinpoint a specific assessment of the album. So many albums will have descriptions like, "Track 3, 'Alone This Time' starts with a moody riff that showcases John's gruff vocals. As the song gains steam with its increasing tempo, it may throw a few people off, but

Thematically and lyrically it's totally ripped off from It's My Life - especially in the verses, which seem practically re-written. Cheers, Jack.

Hey Andrew, No, it was actually an Eddie Money interview - a second one where he talks about Ready Eddie and mentioned Frankie Sullivan. Your Frankie interview is actually up. Cheers, Jack.

Nope - I'm pretty sure the interview was from the Ready Eddie era; Andrew had two of them. I'm about 90% sure of this, though I could be mistaken, of course. Cheers, Jack.

Hey folks, I didn't even know this was out; Eddie Money released an EP back in May called "The Covers EP, Volume 1". It basically has 4 covers, including Train's "Drops of Jupiter" and ACDC's "It's a Long Way To the Top", and a couple of oldies type hits. Anyone heard this? I was surprised when 1999's "Ready Eddie", where he collaborated with Frankie Su

Hi Lazy Hootchietoad, Sure....seems you want songs, not albums. Keith doesn't "rock" in the traditional sense, but he does have some good uptempo numbers. I'd include: - From "Love, Pain": I Told You So (which has a cool celtic twist), Once in a Lifetime, and Used to the Pain. - From Golden Road: Somebody Like You - From Defying Gravity: Hit the Ground Running, Kiss a G

Hey folks, Seeing the OT debate going on below, I thought I would post a link to this article. I think it breaks down the issues in a very insightful way, and though I may not agree with everything postulated, he makes fantastic points. It's a very lucid and well-written article that covers many points that have been ignored by both sides of the debate in the US: http://www.theatlantic.com/doc

Bad English! Not that it would ever happen, seeing how they fucking hate each other and can't agree on anything. I love John Waite, but he's a prima donna who likes to act like he's all glum & tortured and shit and is not a team player. On the other hand, Schon & Cain also have behavioral issues (sometimes....reportedly), so it's not a good match personality-wise. Maybe a year ago I

Hey Dave, I salute you. I'm on the opposite side of the argument, as I do favor a public option (especially because it will maintain private options for those who wish for it, thus eliminating this notion of a "government takeover" of the system, which it isn't...satisfying those who wish to keep their insurance). But at least it'll give the system some measure of balance, which it

Their best CD in my book is their most recent - Get A Life. High tech melodic rock with huge hooks & BVs. A monster, and not a bad song in the lot. It seems you may have "Stories We Could Tell", the greatest hits record, so you've already heard some of the best stuff from older albums like Stripped and their S/T. Because "Stories..." pre-dates Get a Life, it doesn't

Why not? Isn't the forum a place for discussion of music-related topics, be it about songs, production, the industry, coming releases, etc...? I don't get the point. As for the question, I always imagined it was a calculation based on catalog sales. Meaning, Skid Row obviously has enough of a reputation to move x number of units per month worldwide, so the album stays in print. If it drops

Hey folks, I saw the Spanish-only interview with Bruno Ravel announced on the frontpage. Knowing most here are English speakers, I decided to translate it for you folks to read. Turns out to be a pretty straightofrward interview, nothing all that special. Enjoy, Jack. Q: What could you tell me about the process of creating this new record? Does it have the same fun spirit as the band's firs

I agree that songs matter so much more than style. See, if I'm a bit underwhelmed by the samples, it's not because I'm thinking, "Man, this doesn't rock enough", or "they don't have the party lyrics like before!", or "it isn't as gritty as the Laine era!". I don't care if Bon Jovi goes country or Def Leppard goes poppier (I luuurv X), as long as the songs grab me.

Oh, totally agree there, Carl! That's why I made a point of mentioning two releases with soundbytes that initially didn't get me going much and said I wasn't passing any kind of firm judgment. These are just sketchy preliminary thoughts. We'll see...no one is hoping to get rocked by it more than I am. Cheers, Jack.

Hey Rob, No, it's not just you. I'll get crucified for saying this, but the new Danger Danger - the samples, anyway - didn't do much for me. Dare I say anything? I know the clips have gotten universal praise here, which is cool -- and I genuinely like Bruno & the guys. I think Rob hit the nail on the head when he said that it's more reminiscent of Ted's solo work. Think about it - wha
