Wow, that's pretty cool. Glad to see they are still putting out good songs, after all these years. I like the guitar riff and nice to hear Michael sing a small part of it in a lower key. I particularly like how the bass and drums lock-in that rhythm, which reminds me of MSG's "Desert Song".

Well that's great news. Been seeking a good remaster as well as an "official" CD copy of that debut album. While at times the debut is a bit too pop and twee, it's unique ... with aspects that are pure ear candy to listen to. So if "Rise" is now the official second album, what does that mean for "Cloudborn" which was released in 2018? See Wikipedia history at

Agreed about the new Vixen lineup. Saw them on the MoR cruise earlier this year and they kicked butt. I wasn't expecting much but they had great energy and talent with a harder edge sound. They started and didn't pause for the short hour set. A model of what other bands should do. If you have short time on the stage, grab it and don't let up.

Agreed, it's a good album. Personally, I prefer the first three solo albums. But I'm probably a little older than you. One word of advise, if you still own the original 1991 CD, hang on to it. It's by far the best sounding version, with excellent dynamics and separation. Properly mastered by Bob Ludwig and released before the age of brick-walling and over-compression. While the 2002 remas

Cool, I like it. The band is tight and Rob sounds remarkably good for his age. Please include as a bonus on the next release.

K.K. Downing, a founding member of Judas Priest and leader of KK’s Priest, has released an updated version of “Never Satisfied” as a tribute to the recent 50th Anniversary of Judas Priest’s debut album, Rocka Rolla.  Originally appearing on the 1974 album Rocka Rolla, and as the B-side single to its title track, “Never Satisfied” was co-written by Downing and Al Atkins

Wow, what talent. It would great to see Jelusick live but I doubt he'd make it through the US customs ... which has become increasingly restrictive and picky. A Croatian might sound too dangerous to an America First lackey ... who believes any foreigner, especially if they have tattoos and slightly darker skin, might be a terrorist.

Nothing earth shattering original but it's fun and lite. Nothing to be taken too serious. I assume the co-writer, Steve Brown, is from Trixter. It certainly sounds like something of his. It's probably just as well that Lorraine Lewis left Vixen. IMO, it was a nice idea but didn't work. The current version of Vixen I saw this Spring on the Monsters Of Rock Cruise was damn good. A tigh

Kansas did release two albums since 2016. The Prelude Implicit in 2016 and The Absence of Presence in 2020. And Styx released The Mission in 2017, Crash of The Crown in 2021, and now Circling From Above in July 2025. And others like Stryper and Night Ranger are still releasing new songs. Even Tesla still releases an occasional new single but admits an new album is unlikely. Having sai

Surprised there's been no comment about this upcoming epic. Based on the near 15 minute song on Youtube (Our Final Song), it sounds impressive. https://youtu.be/YA3T4BI48MA?si=3n0-WDRTEBdb3DEZ To be released on September 12

I recommend Jack Blades solo album Rock 'n Roll Ride (2012). The two albums were recorded back-to-back. So are very similar in song quality, vibe and production. In fact the first song on Somewhere In California, Growin' Up in California, was intended for the solo album ... until Brad Gillis heard it and insisted it be a NR song. Also, Joel Hoekstra plays guitar on the solo album. At the time

Iced Earth's Days of Purgatory (re-recording of songs from their first three albums) with Matt Barlow on vocals was excellent. Also the Symphony X song, Masquerade '98 with Russell Allen was definitely a winner. In both cases, a still rising band re-recording early songs with better production and singer.

Act Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Agree about saxon ,and i must add Axe twenty years > vol 1 and 2 . Sorry, I've got to disagree. The Saxon songs were OK but lacking. And the Axe re-records were better fidelity but lost all the feeling and excitement of the originals.

In general, I agree. Most re-recordings are inferior. They are missing the original excitement and feel of the songs. However, the first Gord's Gold (Gordon Lightfoot compilation) and John Denver's Greatest Hits are exceptions. In both cases, they came out when the artist was still peaking and had improved as a musician and singer. So the re-recordings of their earliest material is quite good

On the Monsters Of Rock cruises, he's been known to include a small W.E.T. setlist. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/soto/2024/royal-caribbean-independence-of-the-seas-miami-fl-4bad5b12.html Also Talisman songs. I never got to see that band with Marcel Jacob. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/jeff-scott-soto/2023/ms-mariner-of-the-seas-port-canaveral-fl-5bb877b0.html

The Dream Theater sounds good, if not totally original. And as Aussie Dave stated, is pushing the Train Of Thought vibes ... which is not a bad thing. As for the Perfect Plan, I was bored. Only the guitar solo is better than Meh. So disappointing considering the last two studio albums were better than this.

I have just as many memories of finding out it stinks or at best was Meh compared to the band's previous albums. That's the joy of buying blind. I much prefer the era of hearing major parts of the album or sometimes the entire album before purchasing. Apps like Napster actually increased my buying of CDs ... because I could sample a particular album as well as a wide array of new artists and m

That young guy was Ryan O'Donnell and technically it was when Ian Anderson was touring under his own name or "Ian Anderson's Jethro Tull." And I agree it was a good compromise, considering Ian's voice. The newer Thick As A Brick tour was recorded and available for purchase. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thick_as_a_Brick_%E2%80%93_Live_in_Iceland https://youtu.be/TZpu5Ml1jX8?si=

Michael McDonald changed their sound to Yacht Rock. Very smooth jazzy commercial songs. Not my favorite but if I'm in the mood, it's OK. In general, I agree the pre and later post McDonald albums are better, With the exception of his debut album with the Doobies, Takin' To The Streets. That one retains some of the classic Doobie's sound.

I'd like to see a boxset of all the concerts that went into this live album collection. Unedited and complete. Similar to the recent UFO, Thin Lizzy, and Yes boxsets.
