Different Kind Of Truth is the dud for me. Except for 'She's The Woman' which was played even before they got signed and for some reason was never used before Roth left the album is meh for me. I like VHIII. Yeah, it would be ranked after the 6 Daves & 4 Sammys but I still like it.

George Michael was the big rumor going around at the time that he would join Queen.

Poor Gary. He took SO much heat over the deal. Ray Danniels (VH manager at the time as well as Alex Van Halen's brother in law also at the time) just wanted a singer he had under contract already (as he managed Extreme as well) because Sammy refused to sign with him. VHIII isn't as bad as many say. The songs are great, the production is not. No one probably feels it's worth the remaster. Mayb

It would have been awesome but I can't forget how mean Eddie was to Mikey all those years when all Mikey did was wave the VH flag.

186. Re: EVH
There's no end to my tears on this one. I did the one thing I felt needed to be done. Turned on my amp, grabbed my guitar and played 'Eruption'. A neighbor complained about the volume. I yelled back. "Shut up. I'm in mourning.'

RIP to Lee. I chuckled that you typed 'dairy' instead of 'diary'. Dairy Of A Madman should be a Weird Al album title.

Whenever I see Great White posted I recall that I saw them at Mulcahy's in Wantagh, NY via tickets gotten from this very site (Honestly, I think all it was was Andrew saying 'There's free tickets for who wants them' and I lived down the street from the bar so my friend and I went.) Of course, this was the show before the Station fire gig.

Saw David Lee Roth at Universal Studios back in the early 2000's. Certainly was unexpected by me that he'd play there.

Gary Moore wasn't ashamed of rock / metal. He just wanted to start playing the blues. he went back on occasion as he did during a Montreaux show. Plus, he's been dead for 10 years so unless you have some proof of your conclusions I'd prefer you leave him out of it.

You can hardly blame the bands since its in their own language markets they're trying to break into first. Some Japanese bands have used English singers on an album or two. Loudness used Michael Vescera, Anthem used Graham Bonnet.

Trivia note Yes - Talk was released on Victory Music which was owned at the time by Phil Carlson, the former Atlantic Records executive who assisted Yes with their re-ascension to music stardom with 90125. Victory Music also released the much maligned & Rik Emmett-less Triumph - Edge Of Excess and the underappreciated Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Black Moon.

I'm ok with Pull. I liked the only single 'Down Incognito' and especially like 'Spell I'm Under'. I think I was more disappointed with IV. Never really got back into Winger until the very excellent Better Days Comin'.

It's been 35 years since the Firm's self titled debut and...nothing. While I can see no reunion happening how is it the 2 Firm albums do not have remasters of any sort? Even Coverdale/Page got a remaster! Is Jimmy Page just gonna remaster all the Zeppelin albums again st some point first?

Not sure how many reunion lures were put at them, honestly. After Rik left Gil & Mike put out the mediocre Edge Of Excess with Phil X on guitar (A record not treated like, say, Night Ranger - Feeding Off The Mojo as the redheaded stepchild that band never speaks of) but then Gil's studio Metalworks took off as the in place to record at in Toronto and he's been managing the place since. I'm a little surprised people calling Vivian Campbell a 'yes man' and 'the safe option'. If he was so easy to control you'd think he would have been more respectful to Ronnie James Dio while in that band.

Was reading an article on Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden and its generally common knowledge that in between stints he auditioned to see if he'd fit in with Def Leppard after the sad passing of Steve Clark. The surprise, to me at least, was that John Sykes auditioned for the spot as well. Any opinions on what end results would have happened if Sykes joined? Would he have lasted a considerable amou

From what I recall, before watching the clip, he got fed up with being the only one writing the music/lyrics and had to split everything three ways...even on the acoustic guitar solo pieces! It certainly was not set up like Rush was where everyone contributed.

Great early singles from HS. Honestly surprised 'Feel It Again' didn't become a concert anthem. That chorus is infectious. I wonder who they opened for back in the days of their first three albums.

It's worth grabbing The Baseball Boys cd that just came out and hearing the demos and alternate versions of the songs.
