I know it shouldn't surprise me anymore, and I shouldn't care, but..... In this months "Classic Rock" mag, Malcolm Dome reviewed "World Upside Down" by House Of Lords, and gave it..............................3/10 !! What's all that about?? I used to respect Malcolm Dome's opinions, and he has a good reputation in the music industry, but I think the plot he has definitely

I've met Rick Wakeman a few times, always a great laugh. On one particular occasion, he stuck around for over 2 hours after a show. In fact, we all made our excuses to leave before he did. "Oh, sorry Rick...I've got a train to catch!"

Here's "Edge Of Your Life" recorded at Crewe. There seems to be a problem with synchronising the audio and video after converting it from my cameras mp4 format, but anyway, see what you think of it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HRLtLfOkfQ

Hmm. looks like I'll have to live with the production job then, as I really want to support Richie Zito, now "he's back", as it were. The songs I've heard on ARFM sound great (maybe the limitations in production don't come across as much on 'radio', even Internet radio). I used to love his guitar sound on the Giorgio Moroder soundtracks in the 80s (Top Gun, Electric Dreams, and the li

The worst band I saw was "Mike & the Mechanics" at the Apollo in Manchester (1996), sitting next to a load of middle aged middle class snobs in evening wear! I was so bored I had to gnaw my own arm off....

Am I right in thinking now that Vixen have pulled out of some of the UK dates on the tour, that House Of Lords are now either headlining, or are the sole act? A 2 hour HOL show would suit me fine (I'm thinking in particular of Crewe Limelight) Thanks!

So Firefest 3 is back at Nottingham then? Good. Had no problems with it last time, it's central, and even managed to get into a good hotel within staggering distance. Hope they'll let us stay in the main hall after the show this time though.....

Yeah.....when I used to go to the Whitchurch Prog Festival, they had some weird sounding beer on promotion that I'd never seen anywhere else. Could have been "Jagermeister" or something like it. I'll see if I can find my old festival programme tonight....

I was forced to go to a club in London at the weekend. 20 quid just to get in (and I was frisked by a gorilla for me trouble), and then (cough) 30 quid for 4 drinks. As soon as I handed over the money, I thought of the great day I had at Firefest 2 for less money.

My fave so far this year is HOUSE OF LORDS (but I should also give Tony O'Hora "Escape Into The Sun" an honourable mention). Really looking forward to Richie Zito's solo album later this year too...

BTW, the best Trevor Rabin album is "Can't Look Away" (1989), and one of the best AOR tracks, "Something To Hold On To". Of course, after leaving Yes in '95 he's made pots of money writing the soundtracks of the Bruckheimer movies, "Con Air", "The Fast & The Furious", "National Treasure", "Rock Star", Enemy Of The State", "

Actually, the closest that came was that both Billy Squier and Jon Anderson had a track each on the "Metropolis" soundtrack (others included Freddie Mercury, Loverboy and Bonnie Tyler)
