Just spent my long car drive to work listening to this for the first time in years. What a CD! The heavy rain and dark skies only seemed to enhance the experience, I completely lost myself in the music (which isn't very good while driving but hey, nobody died!) Awesome vocals as usual, stunning lyrics, great atmosphere, superb bass work and songs filled with hooks and grand melodies. Love it!

Ugh I just can not see the appeal. Tattoo included. It is dull, lifeless, tuneless, boring... Awful lyrics, bad vocals. Only redeeming factor is the guitar solo on the latter which is quite awesome.

Speaking of which, John Farnham doing Gethsemane. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuRj1QI6e3E&sns=em By far the best version of the song ever performed. Superb vocals. Dynamics, range, power... It has everything.

Vocals were recorded separately but what a great performance nonetheless. Middle guy has a great voice and lovely harmonies towards the end.

The more pressing question is, how many times will the phrase "far away" be used this time? :P

I agree with the Youtube-comment that thought all of them deserved a slap lol

Same with Come On Over, it is killer! Shania is a guilty pleasure, I like Up! even more. Melodic pop/rock/country goodness.

Good singer and a better writer. Avantasia is easily his best stuff. The last three albums are as you say, absolutely killer.

Supreme singer. Hopefully she recovers soon from her vocal surgery.

It's good, don't get me wrong. But Civil War isn't the same without Axl's rasp and vicious vocals. It loses the impact. One of my favourite tunes of all time.

About the only GNR song Miles' voice works for. He's a great singer but he lacks the rasp and the attack in his voice to carry the heavier numbers.

Now I am not much of a Beatles or McCartney fan but isn't this performance just great? Just gets better as it goes on. Feat Norah Jones, No Doubt, Dave Grohl, Steven Tyler among others with a superb backing band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hx34ZJtiwss&feature=related Especially Steven just knocks this one out of the park.

You will like it Kenneth. The two new songs are great and the remixes of the old songs have really improved them :)

It's a stunning song indeed. Took a few listens to win me over but now it has stuck with me. Great lyrics. A very melancholic song with a great harmony vocal section and Bob's vocals on it are so passionate. Well worth to check out, the new production really makes the old songs even better. The Fall is also great, that guitar riff is constantly in my head since I first heard it.

And you will like this compilation, because the beefed up production makes the songs even better :)

Yep some filler but some absolutely amazing tracks. Coma for example, criminally underrated tune with awesome lyrics.

Yes of course they COULD do that. I just fail to see how it in any way detracts from the current compilation. Fair enough :)

The guitar solo on The Spirit is a bit grating but overall it is a decent sounding record. I have heard far worse and the songs are so good I haven't really been bothered by the production. Yeah it could be alot better but it doesn't detract IMO.

Tony Clarkin writes THE best anti-war songs. Apart from the mentioned Les Morts Dansant and Don't Wake The Lion, check out the following by Magnum: The Flood - From the album Sleepwalking. It's about the Red Cloud's war. On Christmas Day - From Rock Art. About World War I. Stunning lyrics. The Blue And The Grey - From Brand New Morning. About the American civil war. No One Knows His Name -

I bought it yesterday, it is great. Ken, first of all, those albums are albums of their time. They still sound good, I don't understand how you can call the production on Wings and OASTN "horrible". They sound damn good cranked up loud. And second of all, this idea was put forth by SPV to do a retrospective of Magnum's ten years with them. So instead of getting a compilation albu

Myles is a phenomenal singer. But his voice doesn't work on all the GNR songs, he doesn't have the same attack and rasp in his voice that Axl does.

Absolutely amazing. So many great rare tracks. Hanging Tree (OOH OOOH OOHH OOOH O OO OOH!!!), Where Do You Run To, Maybe Tonight (one of their best songs ever)... Shame one of the very best b-sides got left off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FX_sAgbRvaw You Don't Have To Be A Baby To Cry, originally intended to be on Rock Art. B-side to the Back In Your Arms Again single I believe.

Second CD Libertad is much better IMO. Scott Weiland has a bit more variety in his vocal delivery (on Libertad he just sounds so monotone, I can hardly stand it) and the songs are a bit more dynamic. The Last Fight, Get Out The Door and the hidden track Don't Drop That Dime are absolutely excellent. The song Messages which wasn't on the CD is also the best track they ever did. http://www

I hate it. It feels cheap. I much prefer when bands change it up live. Or hell, even add extra musicians to do the parts. That at least keeps it 100% live.

Great vocals! He's using a distortion pedal for the guitar part but it is still really hard to emulate an electric guitar (I've tried lol!)

Don't know, Sleepwalking was released on Music For Nations which doesn't exist anymore. Very rare CD. It's excellent however. Don't know about Goodnight L.A. One of the weaker Magnum albums IMO, the best songs on the album are those Tony Clarkin wrote without outside help.
