The Darkness are a bit hit and miss but last record was great. I think they have a real knack for melodic hooks and really tasteful guitar work. I like this tune.

Imagine seeing him out and about 30 years on going "Hey isn't that the baby from Nevermind?!"

The Journey catalogue is unforgiving and their insistance on heavy touring and little to no downtuning is a killer on the vocal cords. Arnel is also 53 and the top range diminishes with age, unrelentlessly.

His second solo album Another World is also really good, it is getting the same treatment for 2022.

Know there was some discussion a while back on the album which was just re-released in a remastered form.... but tell me this tune and the remastered video doesn't deserve its own thread. The video is like a fever dream in a 90's video game lol https://youtu.be/E0In8LwqEec the volume can never be loud enough!

Edit: The album has been remastered by Bob Ludwig, who worked from the original restored flat mixes for this new edition of Back To The Light.

Aha - Summer Moved On. I believe it has the European record for longest held note in a top 40 hit with 20.2 seconds.

It's the skeleton of a song called Silkworms which they performed live already in 2001 in the new-GNR era. I loved Chinese Democracy but this is a very weird choice for a first 'new' song with the Axl-Duff-Slash GNR lineup.

Terrific album. They've done a superb job remixing/remastering it, it sounds amazing. Resurrection is a song that never gets old for me, Brian May and Cozy Powell at the top of their game.

Huge fan of Glen. His late era album Ghost Of The Canvas is a belter.

Open The Door is one of my favourite albums - terrific record! Not a bad track. All three solo albums from Roger are great.

That is a very convincing Bruce. Most GNR covers fall flat because they are sung too cleanly but this was well done.

The two other recent threads inspired me to dig into these records since I've always been a huge Farnham-fan. In my opinion he's got one of the greatest set of pipes I've ever heard. Three very good albums, IMO. Some terrific vocals not only from John but from the rest of the band, the harmonies are truly exceptional The Net - I really dug this one, it's got a certain timeless quality to i

John Farnham is one of the best singers I have ever heard. Mind you he still sounds great at 70 but in his prime he was simply out of this world.

Yeah it is good. The opening track (which is in yhe first post) is the weakest on the record. I quite like a lot of the other tunes - The Runaway Damned and Save My Soul especially.

Don't like the song much but dug the previous two that came out. Listening to the album now, pretty good so far. It's easy-listen AOR.

Great job. Darren has always been a favourite. Barlow got some flak for the Foreigner one but that's not in his vocal range. He is also a very competent pop singer in his own right.

Huge loss for the industry. Saw a statement from Bruce Springsteen: Statement on the Death of Our Great Australian Promoter, Michael Gudinski "My friend Michael Gudinski was first, last, and always a music man. I’ve toured the world for the last fifty years and never met a better promoter. Michael always spoke with a deep rumbling voice, and the words would spill out so fast that hal

Favourite guitar tone: Brian May. Love his crazy experimental side, like emulating a dixieland jazzband in Good Company. But I think his guitar sounded the best on Made In Heaven, like in the solo to You Don't Fool Me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1w3E5Edvvqs

The lack of musical excitement aside, I just can't get past the inane lyrics. They read like middle-school poetry with as much subtlety as a brick.
