Absolutely - on a recent visit to Cork I was able to pay my respects at his grave - a truly great man and talent. His backing band of Gerry McAvoy and Brenden O'Neil do a great job of keep the legacy alive, as Band of Friends

Not forgetting Darren in Florida (for some sunshine) and Vantheman and MCFC Trick for a bit of fellow mancunian football banter - we need some football!

We're all on here because music is important to us so any passing of a favourite will have an impact. I think it does make some difference if you were a fan and had actually met them in person (albeit very briefly) - having had the pleasure of meeting and chatting to Rory Gallagher I was upset when he died. On a recent visit to Cork I paid my respects at his grave.

I don't think it was them - I think the headline were Diamond Head and it was 82. If you can think of any other bands of that ilk around that time it might save me a few more sleepless nights ;-)? Fairly sure they were Mancunian... Thanks

I left that area in the early 80's but remained close due to friends and family but sorry, no I don't recall that band. It's frustrating when you can't remember stuff - I went to a gig at the Manchester Free Trade Hall around that time where I distinctly remember the support band at the end of their set announcing that they were off to Jilly's to get pissed and suggested that the audience skip
