But at the end of the day, you can't blame the guy for trying to make a living. It's an easy few days or weeks of work, but I doubt the paycheck he gets for this will let him rest comfortably for the next 12 months. I think his only steady live gig right now is the MSG tour. All other projects he does are just that. A quick recording session for yet another Frontiers assembly line product.

I don't care how long/short an album is as long as the songs are good. But it's very rare that a 10 or 10+ songs album maintains the quality from top to bottom. So why not choose fewer songs and work harder on those rather than just throw every half-baked idea on it as well?

More likely that they want to keep the publishing. If ADV writes, I assume it stays in-house given his relationship with the label. Like in the very old days where labels had songwriters and they simply hired artists who recorded and performed the material for little to no money.

I think his main driver is insecurity. By the time he quit for the first time he probably knew that he couldn't sustain the voice much longer with this amount of touring. And look what happened to Augeri and now to Arnel. The Journey machine, driven by Schon, is brutal.

I agree. As lackluster as those Budokan shows they released, zero energy, especially Arnel who has no emotions whatsoever in his vocals.

The guy still is a great songwriter, no doubt, I just wish he'd do something a bit different, this middle-of-the-road acoustic-based rock that he's been playing on the last 3-4 solo records all sounds a bit too samey. Nothing that really sticks in the long run. You listen to it a few times, enjoy it, then off onto the shelve it goes.

Doesn't sound like a Mutt tune to my ears. Her voice does sound processed, but I think she basically lost her voice for a while after complications with Lyme disease.
