Melissa Etheridge is far cooler - and has a much fresher vibe - than most of the supposed heroes of this genre, who are just re-hashing 80s cliches after 80s cliches on a downward spiral of ever-diminishing quality. She usually has real rawness and emotion behind her singing; we like her. Cheers, Jack.

For that price, Glen would have to come over and blow my dog for an hour, then put the video up on YouTube for all to see. Nah, even then it ain't worth it. Niv has it right - most autobiographies nowadays tend to be self-congratulatory affairs, with all the requisite triumph-over-hardship cliches. Everything gets rationalized & justified from a self-serving viewpoint. What usually m

Hey folks, I figured some of you would want to watch the band's interview/appearance on Inside The Actor's Studio. I know Jon has done some acting, but I am surprised that they appeared on this show. They mustve given Lipton some money because theyre pushing The Circle on it. Anyway, it's in 12 Parts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpZYVAa2QT4&feature=related You'll see the others on

Hey Terry, Really? I thought Mutt was all over Dark Horse (which I enjoy tremendously) -- and yet, he didn't totally overshadow the CD like he does sometimes. It still sounds like Nickelback and it still rocks (just listen to the solo on Just to Get High). The production is second to none. Wait til you get to "This Afternoon" which is total Mutt. And there are many places here &am

Hey folks, Well, for those of you hungering for some Harem Scarem sounds, Rafa Martin recorded his third album with Harry & Pete during 2008/2009…it’s coming out early in the new year. This is their second collaboration, Rafa’s debut in the 90s is all Harry, Pete, Darren, and Mike (his second album didn’t have the Harem boys on it, though folks like Tim Pierce, Michael Landau and Vi

Hi folks, When I first heard this new song, I was extremely disappointed. After the huge high tech AOR of “Get a Life”, I was expecting some monster hooks. Hated it. However, once you get past the fact that the song doesn’t really go anywhere, and doesn’t build into something grand, you start to enjoy it. I’m actually liking it now; needed to accept it as a mellow track that isn’

Snake - go to anythingbutipod.com; the folks on the board there are highly knowledgeable, specialized, and helpful. I'm not too big on the touch screen thing, so I don't know about the X-series, but the Sony S-series is awesome. The sheer value in sound quality & sound technologies compared to Apple is massive. Dont think they play Apple lossless, though, if thats what youre looking for..

On the new album, the only place where that really annoys me is on "Work for the Working Man" when he sings, "Working May-ay-ay-ayn.....working may-ay-ay-ay-ayn....may-ay-ay-ayn" Cheers, Jack.

Haven't seen it, but with the ratings tanking like crazy, I wouldn't get too attached to the show....looks like it's headed for a swift cancellation. Good thing for you guys that it's based on a novel, so you can always check & see how it ends! Cheers, Jack.

Wow? So you're surprised that people are actually basing their comments on an album's style by - gasp - taking the first two songs on offer as being representative of overall approach? Why shouldn't they? Isn't that what a major label does when they choose which two songs from a mainstream artist they'll first allow the public to hear? "This is who this artist is". Anytime a big s

I agree. The way Frontiers has been fanning the flames of speculation was a pretty bad marketing move, because by allowing the matter to go unresolved for so long, they're just stirring up negative feelings & assumptions. The vacuum of information is being filled by negativity due to the obvious tidbit of info we DO have (ie, Huff isn't involved...no, quiet...Huff isn't involved in any kin

People don't consider Nickelback, Daughtry, or David Cook the resurrection of melodic rock, even though the influence is clear... ...I think they won't be happy until some formulaic 80s cliche like D2's "That's What I'm Talking About", which has been done many times before in far better ways, is back on the airwaves.... ....which, as Joe pointed out, will never happen. It's entirely about value for money and a sales venue where you have loads of customers streaming in...the traffic at Wal-Mart is immense nationwide. I'm convinced it sold almost exclusively on the strength of the Greatest Hits with a DVD and the low price (bundled value for money), and not because of the new material. These people aren't really Journey fans; they just know the hits. If Jou
