Got mine Monday but could only get to it today. Really, really good. Some surprises on it for me too, such as the Mike Tramp tune - is he always that good? Norti

Can't make the show, but what an amazing way to celebrate - bet there aren't many sites that do something like this. Will do my small bit and get a CD though. Happy birthday MelodicRock.com!! Norti

Asia - Liverpool Journey & Foreigner in Manchester were good too, as were Toto in London.

Hi. What counts as reasonably priced? If you're staying in the city then the Academy is an easy walk from anywhere, even if you're down at something like the Best Western down on the Albert Dock. I'm not aware of a rock pub, but within a really short stagger from the Academy there are a couple of "Irish" pubs :-)

This post has nothing to do with music so if that's a worry don't read any further. In 2007 I'm taking part in the Barry Sheene Memorial Motorcycling Challenge, raising funds for CLIC Sargent, a charity in the UK that supports children with cancer and their families. There's a little more info. here http://pcwww.liv.ac.uk/~duff/BarrySheeneChallenge.html and if anyone would like to throw in som

On the front page of MR; "Join Tony La Russa along with Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain from Journey with friends Jeff Scott Soto..." So JSS is a friend, not "from Journey" eh!?! :-) Norti

The same accusations could be levelled at Journey (only guitar and bass from original line up), Whitesnake, UFO, Yes, Van Wholan, KISS, Bucks Fizz(!), The Christians... Seeing the original 4 playing the music that was on that first album makes it worthwhile for me to be paying a little into the Wetton/Downes/Howe/Palmer retirement fund. Stefan, you're in the Asia street team - which version of

Asia played Liverpool last night. It was fabulous to see the original line up and hear those tunes, which I don't think have aged badly for 23 years or so. Wetton's voice was great, although there were times when he missed a few cues and perhaps forgot a few lines, and it doesn't seem like they are necessarily the best of mates as there was little stage interaction. Carl Palmer was bonkers and b

I thought Steve A. was great when I saw them in Manchester and when listening to his stuff on the albums. Anyone have any news about the release date for the new Tall Stories album? Norti

Having read the news, what was the deal between the guys in Triumph that makes it so unlikely that they'd even play at something like an induction in their honour? Norti

Thanks Andrew. By the way, got my MR3 CD - the jewel case didn't survive so well, but it's a great collection. Norti

Having read the insert for the MR3 CD I was reminded that Erkka Korhonen was no longer a member of Urban Tale. Does anyone know what he is up to at the moment or where I might find this out? Thanks. Norti

Put on Unleashed Memories and In a Reverie and I don't think I could tell which was which. Lacuna Coil are good, but no more varied across albums than Evanescence. But what do I know, I just got the CD version of Strangers in the Night, surely the best live rock album in the world...ever. Norti

Does anyone own this, and if so, what is it like? From the clips I thought it sounded good, but have a vague sense that the DVD was panned on this board so am keen to get some expert ears-opinion from having heard the whole album. Thanks, Norti

There are many melodic rock artists who read this notice board so I was wondering if any of you would like to describe what the basics of the music are, as in, are there standard chord progressions, changes for the bridge, that kind of thing? I guess it's a vast subject, but a few hints would be appreciated if any of you guys have the time. Thanks, Norti

Picked up a bargain on Ebay, a S/T album by Total Stranger, who apparently are Canadian. Anyone know anything about them? I think they sound a bit like early Danger Danger, but mum always said I have a tin ear. Norti

I saw JSS with Soul SirkUs and when he did the little Journey interlude thought he easily sounded up to the job, but it is a shame for Steve A. Hey, Jeff, keep reminding the rest of the band about the UK when they're planning their next tour!! Norti

Fantastic. I agree JC seemed a little less enthusiastic than the other guys but he did throw a few rock shapes. Hopefully they enjoyed themselves as much as we did and will come back before another 20 years pass. Norti
