Andrew, you do not have to waste your time on any type of news updates. I find that the most relevant Mel-rock news is posted on this board by all of the super uber aware members. Your reviews are the most intriguing thing in my mind. I have discovered so much stuff from you and this board that I would have never known of being the mainstream press in the states only covers the big money promoted

It was supposed to be a big major supergroup success but didn't really go anywhere. It was recorded live but had a lot of studio touch ups to make it sound like a studio album. Some dislike it but I really like it. "Missing You"-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMP_Hm4iAeY "He Will Understand" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqv7n2KWpyw

I actually have a friend who has an older brother who is in the C.G.I. business and worked on this film. But he will not reveal any secrets about it.

This is the kind of shitty statement that makes me dislike Dave. His GTR player? I think most would agree that Eddie was the mastermind and Dave was the pretty face.

I apologize that I am over posting tonight but it is Friday evening and I am a little bit lit up. These 3 albums contain what I would describe as a combination of Foreigner meets the Cars and some other Mel-rock type of stuff. From "Dosage"- "Heavy": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoL0z6dn2q8 From "Blender"- "Why PT.2": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4dg

Went to see this last night at the theater located at SteelStacks in Bethlehem, PA. An amazing arts area that has been built over an old steel mill. It was very emotional seeing Neil in his last recorded performances. When it was over and I left the theater, imagine my surprise when Collective Soul was playing outside in the outdoor stage. Such a surreal experience.

We all know who he is. I am a fan of about 99% of his hits. But can anyone recommend any one of his albums that a Mel-rock fan would appreciate from start to finish? The only deep tracks that I know of, "Funeral For a friend/ Love Lies Bleeding" Aren't really a non-hit. Don't be afraid to suggest any albums from the 80's or 90's or upwards.

I am so glad to hear that he tapped into something that would reward him financially.

Big, big Hackett fan. But from what I have heard of the new one it is all recycling of his other most recent albums. If someone who had no idea of whom Hackett was heard this stuff they probably would be very impressed. But unfortunately I have followed his stuff OCD like since "Guitar Noir" and I find this latest one sort of a disappointment. But go see him Live. An amazing band!

I liked some of it. But what amazes me most of all is that the major acts from that genre had their lead singers die of an O/D or suicide. Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Blind Melon, Soundgarden, STP, Linken Park. I guess their angst that was expressed in their music was really authentic.

I just discovered the "Surveillance" album and it is an overlooked classic.

An earlier post of this band had people mentioning that they had no major classic albums. I always thought this one was a very strong release that would have been huge back in the day. I think it would be appreciated by fans that love TOTO's "Isolation". Some samples: "Six Feet Under" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nx_YIudy9lk "One Of These days" https://www.youtu

One wonders how Mike actually makes a living being everything he has been involved with has been no more than a cult status or niche project. We all know he should be a major superstar but I wonder what he really does to put bread on the table.

What I would consider the high point of Andrew's original Mel Rock Records label. Not saying that the other releases were inferior but this one really stood out. "Laugh or Cry"- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MN3crMxUvbM "Come Together"- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrIXAP26gTg and "Slippin' Away"-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9e6Kf4LzIc

I cannot believe this is 21 years old. A Mel-Rock supergroup. Terry Brock, Randy Jackson(of Zebra), Mark Mangold, Billy Greer and Bobby Rondinelli. Would have been huge in the 80's. Some samples: "I'm Alive"- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBH54R68A-s "Stranded"- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShZEfIgHDLg "All Your Life"- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXOWJedV

I think he might have been trying to be sarcastic and overstated the fact that Rush had a lot of longer songs before they decided to streamline their sound on PW.

We all know who his dad was and he tried very hard to make a career for himself without trying to ride his dad's coattails. But his very similar looks and voice to his dad kind of hindered his career. He was able to attract some very big producers and studio musicians to help him make some solid music. I always liked this album though it can be spotty at times. The album after this one is probabl

Can't believe they made a video for this. MTV never played it as far as I know. Probably the only AOR song about a heart transplant.

I am hearing good things about this but my bias towards Caveman's production makes me hold back on deciding if I should go all in on it.

I was a discoverer of B.O.C. in the 80's. "Fire of Unknown Origin" is a masterpiece to me. I was intrigued when Buck put out his only solo album. I actually have a vinyl copy of it from when I bought it when it came out. A major AOR type of album that most would consider lacking any kind of earlier BOC edge. It was the 80's and it sounds great for folks who came of age during that era.

"Now What" really connected with me. But the others after that were kind of spotty to me. Lots of highlights surrounded by blah material. And yes. Don Airy is now the highlighted member of the band and Steve Morse has become overshadowed by him. Here is a song from "Now What" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEWYRRaxFhU&list=RDBEWYRRaxFhU&start_radio=1

As the guy who posted about them a while ago and found out about their last album they released "The Visitors" from this board and thought it was great, these 2 new songs are very blah to me. The voices sound great for 70 year old people but musically it just is so vanilla.
