The follow up to "Knee Deep". I accepted their new sound because I loved synths and the combination of Mickey and Grace. Make no mistake that this was a prefabricated 80's band that completely sold out and used outside writers to make them relevant at the time. I understood Paul kantner's lawsuit to make them rename the band Starship. I always found myself to be hot and cold toward this

I love this album. Rolling Stone criticized the TOTO connection but Randy defended them saying that they were great guys and knew their shit musically. I love this song from his last studio album. You might recognize it as the theme song from the TV show "Monk". "It's a Jungle Out There" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBdF3E2NVI8

Love anything John Mitchell and the last Frost album was a masterpiece. I hope this new Lonely Robot album deviates from the norm because I thought his formula on the last Lonely Robot album was getting stale.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered that this former One Direction Teen Idol started putting out solo albums and I read such great reviews saying that he was trying hard to sound like 80's lush sounding soft rock stuff, ala Fleetwood Mac's "Tango in the Night", Michael jackson and TOTO. I had to lower my expectations when I went into it but damn, he really has been knocking it out of

Sorry for the over posting but this album has been on my playlist lately and I can't think that everyone on this board would not be crazy for this album. The band was obviously riding on the coattails of their songs being utilized by Van Halen and they exploited that fact with their songwriting and production on this album that pumped up Dave Davies GTR playing. A massive AOR album that FM radio

Considered a classic by most KISS fans but I find it having some unfortunate filler on it like all of their other 80's-90's albums. Having said that, this has some really strong material on it and is probably their best album with Bruce in the band. Their manager at the time said he wanted them to make a heavier album that featured Gene's songwriting as he was not really involved with their 80's

HPSUACE I thought of posting about the Cure but I figured that the band would be so OT from what most members would appreciate on this board. I am surprised that your opinion is exactly spot on of my opinion. lol.

Simple Minds, post their heyday, has always left me hot and cold. Lots of great stuff when they utilized Mel Gaynor on drums but the other programmed stuff leaves me cold which this one has that programmed sound which makes me like the synths and song but leaves me felling something is missing.

This board is the only place that reported this enormous loss. I had no idea. His work with DLR and Buckingham was just top notch. RIP.

I used to listen to at least 5 or 6 albums a week. Then suddenly I became lost around this new year and have only been listening to a few songs a day. No idea why and it makes me sad.

Like everyone else I was turned on to her by the powers that be that decided that they would play "Black Velvet " endlessly on the radio and MTV. I actually read a review by some1 in a local periodical who described this as "Foreigner with tits". Obviously a dated review which would be totally un-pc today. I really did not think it sounded like Foreigner but I could see where

No idea Andrew was dealing with health issues. Sounds kind of strange but I cannot fathom my musical heroes dealing with the aging process like I am at the moment. Andrew, I hope listening to some of the cool music I know you only have access too makes your health turn around!!

The kinks' lead GTRist's first solo album from 1980. Completely different sounding from his Mother Ship band. His vocals are an acquired taste but musically I would think that most of the members of this board would like this stuff. His second album "Glamour" is my favorite from him being it is more synthy and proggy but kind of plodding which most members do not appreciate. lol. Sample

I assume you mean that he went completely modern prog with your reference to Peter Gabriel? This is a sound that I am very intrigued to hear. Can you post samples?

It is funny how the critics loved this stuff that members of Toto were involved with but they absolutely hated everything The Toto band put out. Critics like Rolling Stone.

I never liked the previous album before this one "No Prayer for the Dying" which I found kind of a parody of the Maiden sound. Adrian was gone at this point and Janick was his replacement. "Fear of the Dark" connected with me big time and I do not understand the hatred towards it. I thought it was a major comeback after the last one. The Martin Birch and Steve Harris productio

My Aerosmith thread below had some members taking it in the direction of Night Ranger and their before and after albums of their prime time popularity. I only knew of this album because of Andrew's review of it in 2001. This is an absolute classic for fans of Night Ranger and it would be considered a Night Ranger classic if it had Jack singing some of the songs. The big name contributors on it sh

I would only know about this high quality stuff from the highly knowledgeable members of this board. This board is the only resource I rely on to introduce me to stuff both past and present and I bow down on my knees to all of the members that keep me well informed. The first album that had both Joe and Brad back in the band after their breakup. It was supposed to be a major comeback but did not achieve that status. This album was more grounded and had a more more legitimate sound to the classic 70's sound of this band because it was all written by the band members before John kalonder got his hooks into the band and made them a commercial juggernaut with th

Sounds great to me. I know there is a certain percentage of members on this board that are in the minority when it comes to appreciating anything Prog even though I think the more commercial style of Prog should be appreciated by the majority of the members.

I love every one of this band's Top ten hits. I never explored any of their full albums outside of "Band On the Run" which is pretty solid but kind of weak outside of the hits. When I researched their catalog, everyone said that "Back to the Egg" had some great material on it and had a lot of out of character material on it being Paul was trying to fit into the times of late 7
