Apologies if this has already been covered, but several complete-set live performances from Hellfest 2022 have been streamed on arte.tv including Megadeth, Nightwish, Epica, Dropkick Murphys The Offspring and others. Here in the States, they remain available on demand without a paywall (at least for me). Cheers! https://www.arte.tv/en/videos/RC-014483/hellfest/

Ticket sales have been great, particularly give the size of stadiums that they're playing. But make no mistake, this is nothing more than a nostalgia-fueled music festival featuring 4 bands that hit each hit their peak of popularity more than 30 years ago. If this tour had taken place at that time, they would have sold-out multiple stadium shows in all the major US markets. Just putting things in

Inclusion of all the new songs is simply the misplaced ego of a band who have convinced themselves that it's totally rad music that the stadium masses will love and want to hear (it's not). I imagine that the palatable indifference they'll continue to be met with will lead to most being dropped from the set at some point in the not-too-distant future. A ballad-heavy set was a predictable way to m

I fully agree with your statement. That said, at this point with KISS, Paul appears to be enhancing his back-up track when I thought it was supposed to be the other way around.

Apologies, I know that this topic has been flogged to death here, but the latest irrefutable and blatant example of Paul singing along to a pre-recorded backup track. Fans can be totally down with this, but must also be willing to acknowledge the truth of what's going on here. https://blabbermouth.net/news/kiss-backing-tracks-accusations-revived-after-eric-singers-mistake-at-antwerp-concert

Aside from expanding their musical direction, it’s clear that Joe is no longer capable of hitting the notes and singing with the power that is prevalent on their harder and more aggressive earlier albums. He’s become more of a crooner and DL songs now are now written to best reflect that style. It’s not so much that they won’t go back as much as it is that they can’t do so even if they

Bottom line is that too many politically-powerful Americans believe that the unfettered freedom of literally anyone to own a gun is more important than the freedom of children to grow up without being threatened by preventable gun violence and death. Ongoing political opposition to universal background checks is the most obvious case in point – even when 90% of Americans support such legislati

This point of view completely misses the point. The only intended purpose of an assault rifle is to kill other human beings. The velocity of bullets fired from assault weapons is significantly higher than other firearms and does far greater and catastrophic damage to victims upon impact. It has absolutely nothing to do with the speed/frequency it takes for each round to be discharged. It’s why

On the other hand... Quite frankly, the Metal Planet Music review comes across as nothing more than a puff piece. Lots of hyperbole without a single critical comment. I realistically hope (and would be satisfied) if it falls somewhere between the two. If I come away with a handful of new songs that I want to add to one of my playlists, I'll be happy. It will all come down to one's own expectation

FYI, according to Schon, only "certain songs" were mixed by Clearmountain. Which means the entire album could be all over the place. At this point, it's awfully hard to tell how much may have to do with the production and/or mastering too. https://blabbermouth.net/news/journey-announces-freedom-album

From the "managing your expectations" department: “And the way we’re presenting the songs, it’s not just the rock of that era. It’s the other people like Elton John and Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, even the Eagles. There’s flavors of that flooding all the way through the album.” https://www.billboard.com/music/rock/def-leppard-diamond-star-halos-album-1235045022/

DNA does a lot of "Apple Digital Masters" work. It's already been done for the first six Roth albums on the Apple Music streaming service, but not for any of the Van Hagar albums. *If* anything's up, Sammy's albums may finally be getting the proper remastering work that have been so badly needed on the first two releases, certainly for digital purchase/streaming services. It's really not a cash grab. Gilmour/Floyd are actually doing something a bit admirable. It's another standalone release of material that had been exclusive to their "The Later Days" boxset. They previously did the same with the "Live at Knebworth" and "Delicate Sound of Thunder (remix)" releases. Given that the box set is currently selling for US$400-$600, it's nic

The whole show was recorded. Four songs were not included in the official release (Don't Shoot Shotgun, Let It Go, Tear It Down, Travelin' Band). A raw soundboard recording of the entire show (and soundcheck) is out there - it was originally available as a 2CD bootleg called "Stagefright" that I own. FYI, I wish there was an official release of the entire show. Joe's voice sounds compl

I saw them in Oakland when they opened for Boston on the Don’t Look Back tour during the summer of 1978. Given their name, the billing seemed a bit cringe-worthy at the time - and they were clearly trying a little too hard to come across as the headliner wannabes.

For current card-carrying Journey fans, IF they tour their pre-Lollapalooza warm-up gig at the Aragon Ballroom, it will be the band's most mind-blowing setlist ever by, like, a mile. 3 hours, 2 sets, 30 songs. Bringing Deen back makes more sense now, but I still have no idea how Arnel might make it through the tour. Apologies if this has already been posted here: Set 1 Faith in the Heartlan

Agreed. Such a great show! Awesome band and performance. Cathy and Shelley are, like, the best female backup singers ever. A really nice upgrade of the show was uploaded onto YouTube about a year ago. I can't remember if it had been posted here previously (apologies if I'm being redundant). Totally worth one's time if you haven't checked it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGgFhCXKiR8

From a 1995 Rolling Stone EVH interview regarding the DLR-split aftermath: "But for a while I didn't know what the fuck we should do. I thought of doing a solo album with different singers. I'd written a bunch of music, including "Right Now", which ended up on F.U.C.K. I envisioned Joe Cocker doing that one. I actually called Joe, Pete Townshend and Phil Collins. Alex talked

First time I saw VH live was during the summer of '78 at a Day On The Green concert in Oakland, CA. The bill that day: Aerosmith Foreigner Pat Travers Van Halen AC/DC VH blew them all away. Simply heartbreaking news. Woflie & Valerie's posts have gutted me. My thoughts are with the family. EVH. GOAT. RIP.
