I'm sure Atlantic stole enough from them to more than make up with it with the Hollywood accounting. Zeppelin made most of their money from touring and the insane 90% for LZ/10% for promoters of the gate deal that Peter Grant worked out. Even the best the Stones could get was 85/15.

Probably better off to get David Glen Eisley and call it Giuffria.

Loved the debut but would be hard pressed to recall a song from the second album.

I like both versions of Van Halen. I just treat it as two different bands. Always laughed when Dave said he'd never sing a Sammy tune when, technically, he did twice. Yes, you can say early VH covering Montrose's 'Rock candy' isn't REALLY a Hagar song and that since its been revealed Sammy wrote the music to the song 'Can't Get That Stuff No More' on the Best Of Volume One cd since it was nev

Loved Power. Spirit Of Things not so much. Liked the Elefante records but obv wasn't Kansas prog anymore. Ah, the days when 70's prog bands went (or tried to) go pop in search of the elusive pop hit at the beckoning of record companies. I'll never forget the famous Ahmet Ertegun quote directed at Yes' Chris Squire which went 'We need a hit this time, Christopher, and its on you to do it'.

Always thought it was odd VH was ok with this contract fulfilling album for Geffen but not the greatest hits album Unboxed that was used to pay for his divorce settlement (in the proud tradition of David Gilmour).

He's so connected with Jeopardy I'd say just cancel the show (I understand there's still new episodes coming that he did that will air). That's the purist in me. The realist in me knows tv execs do not care and will replace him with Ryan Seacrest or similar.

By this point Dave had to realize he made a huge mistake leaving VH but every lead singer of a successful band thinks they can do it on their own with a band that sounds like the band they left. I remember seeing Dave play live at Universal Studios in Orlando in the oughts and compete VH setlist. I even yelled out 'HOW ABOUT GOIN' CRAZY?'and he looked down at me like I farted in church. Far

The issue is, if you will indulge me, is that for 4 plus years anyone who was even thought to like Trump was called bigot, racist, homophobe, violence inciter, white supremacist (oddly enough, regardless of heritage...ffs, black people got called this!), nazis, fascists and more by the left, media, big tech & Democrat politicians and now...NOW...because Biden wants 'unity' he thinks over 70

Honeymoon Suite did have hits in the USA but I can confirm I never heard of our beloved Harem Scarem or I Mother Earth & Our Lady Peace until I got MuchMusic via cable in NY. I still remember having MuchMusic on in the background while on my PC and 'No Justice' came on and I turned thinking 'WTF?' and then going to Tower Records on Broadway in NYC and finding several cd's in the import se

Different Kind Of Truth is the dud for me. Except for 'She's The Woman' which was played even before they got signed and for some reason was never used before Roth left the album is meh for me. I like VHIII. Yeah, it would be ranked after the 6 Daves & 4 Sammys but I still like it.

Poor Gary. He took SO much heat over the deal. Ray Danniels (VH manager at the time as well as Alex Van Halen's brother in law also at the time) just wanted a singer he had under contract already (as he managed Extreme as well) because Sammy refused to sign with him. VHIII isn't as bad as many say. The songs are great, the production is not. No one probably feels it's worth the remaster. Mayb

27. Re: EVH
There's no end to my tears on this one. I did the one thing I felt needed to be done. Turned on my amp, grabbed my guitar and played 'Eruption'. A neighbor complained about the volume. I yelled back. "Shut up. I'm in mourning.'
