Brilliant album which I bought on initial release, and a big departure from cats in boots who I never rated. Still listen to it now on a regular basis. Turn it on is stellar as is dead end st.

Have not heard the new FFDP, but as I mentioned in another thread they seem to churn out the same album lately. NB's new one is certainly not their best, and like FFDP have a formula which works for them. I have found myself listening to it regularly over the weekend in the car, and just find it ok with some good songs and a couple of dire ones, but totally derivative of their past catalogue.

Yes pretty much agree with most of the posters. Ten thousand fists was their stand out album, and everything since has kept the same formula which makes it very difficult to remember individual albums as none are that unique. FFDP are also definitely guilty of this crime. Really enjoyed a couple of their albums and then sadly realised that every subsequent album was exactly the same.

Had a couple of listens yesterday and it is definitely not one of their best especially coming after the superb feed the machine, The songs are a mixed bag although San Quentin has grown on me since first heard it and is one of the stronger tracks. Maybe that means the album is a grower, but I don't believe it will be one of their best after initial listens.

The Cowboys managed to lose to the worse Green Bay side in years and I think they had a 14 point lead at one point. Cowboys always flatter to deceive so I expect the vikings to win as they look a solid side. Hard too eee past Kansas and 49ers

Yes Golden Discs, Makin Tracks (bought the Mitch malloy import CD among many others), and Caroline music Loads of money spent on classic CDs from those shops. There was also a great shop in Enniskillen, and the guy was very knowledgeable about the genre. He also had stalls at local record fairs. I think his name was Peter but cannot remember the name of the shop. Bought loads of him as well

Just back from the game having travelled from Belfast. Followed the Seahawks since the 80s and gutted at the result especially as the team have performed way beyond expectations this season. For some reason didn't turn up in first half, and game was out of reach by the time they showed up. Still it was a great game and atmosphere which was better than any London games I have been to. Mun

Went to see Biffy CLyro in Belfast last night. A superb gig with top notch production, and the band are superb musicians with a great catalogue of songs so there wasn't much not to like, Highlights were, Instant history, biblical, space, The Captain, and of course bubbles. Highly recommend them as although described as alt rock they are just a really good stadium rock band. They were

I have followed these guys since the superb black swan album, and it is great to see the guys still producing music.I have linked to a couple of recently released tracks which I really like. Hope there are some other fans on the forum as they are melodic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJGJUm1S-ho https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UXCh0EKdCg

I am not a fan of the hair metal tag as it is quite lazy, but that can be said of a most musc categories created by journalists. I thought the presenter made a lot of good points, and was quite respectful of the genre even though he isn’t a fan. As he said It is so true that a lot of the songs have stood the test of time and are recognised by newer generations now too.

Yes just had this recommended on Apple Music and gave it a listen, A great album filled with hook laden hard rock songs. Reminded me of Cinderella when I was listening to it to be honest.

I really liked Feed the machine and felt it was a return to form for the band. After hearing the two songs released I don't have high expectations for this album sadly.

I was playing a couple of Nickelback music videos and the YT algorithm threw that video up as recommended. I can assure you I wasn't looking for it LOL. The question doesn't keep me awake at night but curious as to the hate they generate in certain quarters as IMHO there are much worse bands out there and in that genre . I thought the video made some decent points which I thought I would share

I always thought Nickelback were a decent band that actually have a lot of killer songs in their catalogue. I have watched them live a few times and they always put on a great show. I found this video on YouTube which tries to explain the hate and I thought it was interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFC4OFWIPtw

There are definitely a few good songs on the album, and as many have said a step up from their recent output. Unfortunately a long way off the quality of the first three albums, and being realistic I don't think they will ever achieve those levels again.

ATR is a great album and still gets a spin all these years later. BTC was definitely weaker although had a few great songs, but I would have much preferred imaginator to be the follow up. Obviously too large a change in direction for the label. Agree with the post above about Life. Up there easily with ATR.

I am from Northern Ireland and one of the main reasons I voted to remain was the obvious border issue with Ireland. This was always going to be a major hurdle and the NI protocol has been the result. We are on track for the current government to undo the peace in NI by trying to placate one side of the divide here, and to risk a Trade war with the EU by going back on the agreement that the govern

I remember many years ago reading a review of the album Ten in Metal forces magazine by Dave Shack (Who was a massive fan of the band). He gushed over the album saying it was a real return to form so I thought I would have a listen. It was a hell of an introduction to the band Ten is still one of my favourite albums ever and gets a regular listen, I then started to buy all of their CDs and as

LOL fair point. I meant none of the OTT lighting ie swirling around changing colours constantly. There was basically a set of fixed lights on top of the rig that occasionally changed colour. I suppose a more accurate description would have been minimal lighting/stage setup. It really was just the band and a few amps on stage. Just struck me as I was at Dream Theater, and Hans Zimmer gigs

Just back from this gig in Belfast, and it was superb.I know this artist is country, but she is worth a listen as she has some great songs, and definitely would appeal to a lot of forum users. It was a stripped back gig with no light show, or videos just Ashley and her band. Really refreshing and the band were superb, providing solid backing for Ashley who sounded amazing live, and didn't miss

As a Newcastle fan I understand the Stress that comes with potential and actual relegation season after season when Ashley was in charge. Unlike Moshiri Ashley never spent money and when he did usually purchased bang average players. Also the list of terrible managers he recruited really didn’t help (Joe Kinnear). Everton have pissed so much money away on average players, and like manu ther

Not a massive DL fan to be honest, but appreciate pyromania and hysteria. Too late though is one of the best DL songs, and is miles better than the journey song.

The new Kissin' Dynamite is a great record, and one of the best in recent times from the genre. The songwriting, and production are top notch which is refreshing. Highly recommended.

My list for 2021, and in no particular order; Dream Theater - A view from the top of the world. These guys are so consistent Volbeat - Servant of the mind (A real return to form) Daughtry - Dearly Beloved (Happy he has returned to his rock roots) Bad Wolves - Dear Wolves (Never listened to any other album but this one is a good slice of modern metal) Biffy Clyro - The myth of the h

I am a massive Enuff z nuff fan, and agree that the debut is a great album that should not have been labelled as glam. I just believe Strength with the more mature songs, and themes got critics to treat them a bit more seriously, and moved them away from he likes of Warrant at the time. IMHO of course
