No better or worse than Gary to me. Big Gary fan, but it never felt right in VH to me.

I concur. I’ve said it before. Thanks to Andrew and his site, I’ve enjoyed many more bands than I would have otherwise if this site didn’t exist.

Not sure if I’d call it a comeback album or just their next and turns out final album, but Clockwork Angels from Rush was just outstanding. I’d also agree with a different kind of truth.

If you want to go all out, and it’s not cheap, look at the ibasso dx300. It plays all music file formats including MP3. Add in a Qobuz subscription or I guess Apple Music and you’ll have access to a lot of lossless and hi def music files. If you join head-fi, you can score a used one and save a little bit. Paired with nice headphones it’s audio bliss. Expensive, but most of us on

Rush is my #1 fav band. I can’t even name a top album for me, but this one’s in my top grouping. It just depends what kind of mood I’m in, they are so different by era.

I saw it to. Really good sound mix for the video, way better than the CD. Each instrument was so present and clear. What struck me on the big screen (and I’ve watched R40 countless times) is how physical NEP played, that wasn’t as clear on a TV or even in person as he was always quite hidden by the drums (and I was even at the R40 toronto shows in row 1 both nights, a friend works the ar

Yea, he’s just generalizing. Rush went through a phase of epic adventures on most albums and sort of went away from that from permanent waves onwards. Clockwork angels returned to it a little - being a concert album with some longer tracks, but nothing like the past stuff. If you want to read something fun, find the stories about the record company asking for something more commercial

It’s sucks. I’m starting to think getting covid is inevitable even if vaccinated, it’s just the symptoms will likely be less severe which is a very good thing. However, concerts, sporting events etc are a good number of years from normalcy.

When Van Halen was a productive band, I’d check out vhnd.com nearly daily. Is a site to avoid now or is it the original poster?

That was great. Andrew, did you give a similar scathing to his last one to? I think I recall that you did, but I’m not certain. That was priceless to read!

I wouldn’t be shocked if he helps DC on vocals. DC was ready to retire, knowing his singing was suffering for this style of music, and than the pandemic has delayed and postponed the farewell. His voice has probably lost another step and he may want help delivering a performance fit for a final tour. I just speculating but I think it’s possible.

I’m bummed even thinking about it. My two fav bands had irreplaceable members pass away in the last year or two. Still many I like doing final laps but the numbers are dwindling. I saw Triumph do a 3 song set a couple years ago which was magical. It would be awesome if they’d do a residency or something and do some shows. It was a cool event, the band members mingled with the fans

I love their live shows, but too much for me for this. For this price it should include some signed goodies, and even then it would be too much.

Agreed, I lucked into front row for Buffalo in 2012 and brought a good camera in. I got a few nice pics, but nothing like the link I provided.

Not bad, but I’d dial back the shrieking a lot, it’s too high pitched and a distraction. Maybe a lower key or something would help.

I do enjoy them and their live shows still kick ass, but their songs don’t have any hooks any longer. I listened to live after death today and it’s great, still some of that early raw almost punk sound, but rhythmic, catchy and melodic with good pace. That has been absent for awhile. I do enjoy the new material, just like the old more. As for empire of the clouds, I actually thought

Short and on the website. It’s nice to have the history centralized somewhere. Posting a snippet here would be good to, as the discussion here is often rich.

I gave the album a fresh listen yesterday, still rocks, but I also agree that I’ve burnt out a little on some of the tunes. I totally love the band, one of my favorites. My fav album is pyromania- I spun that one to and it’s also a little burnt out for me, but I’ve played it 100s of times. I do enjoy the last studio album and the live releases. The live ones made the old tracks sound

I read somewhere that he played each segment a little differently and never repeated the same pattern - a comment on subdivisions. I don’t get how Rush divided up their writing credits. Neil clearly wrote the lyrics so that made sense. I’d argue that his drumming was so unique that he contributed as much to the music writing as Geddy and Alex who got full credit for music. I’m sure the

This might interest some of you. There's a company selling autographed copies of the new Styx album for about $20 with shipping, but only ships within the US. I’ve never heard of the company but for $20 I’ll take the chance. I’m not in the US so I shipped to a friend and I’ll grab later. Hopefully this link works: https://talkshop.live/watch/gn6BxudezsNL/4889 I bought the miss
