Omega - decent but not as good as XXX for me. Ranks alongside Phoenix in the latter day releases. Unfortunately Gravitas was a clunker. Just too one paced for the most part

I really don't get the "hate" for John Payne. Downes invited him in and is he supposed to turn it down? They formed a strong song writing partnership. JP era Asia released some damn fine albums along the way without recreating the commercial success of the eponymous debut and Alpha. To be fair Asia were prettty much on the wane as headliners following the percieved flop of album #3 - As

No. Sadly the John Payne era is vastly under-rated and under appreciated by many. Not by me!!!

I'll probably trail to Manchester mainly because Midnite City are one of my favourite "new" bands Hoping for a better turn out than their last tour - less than 100 of us at Sheffield!!

Agree with all that's been said. Absolutely terrific My only issue - a 12 song 75 minute set. Not enough for headliners, especially given the extremely average support!

I'm not a purist or technical expert. I just enjoy going to live shows. And for me there's the key word - "shows". Does it really matter how that show is actually delivered? It's all about entertaining the crowd. If you take TM's argument to it's logical conclusion - should all bands just release albums based on one take, live in studio recordings - so we can hear their musical ch

Thanks Scott, Never saw anything about Houston supposedly headlining. There was a good crowd a couple of years back when they played with Crashdiet, Sepentine and Miss Behaviour Me and my son mused on the way home how anyone could be in pocket - I'm sorry that you will be in the "red". It is so sad that there is only moderate support for "new" bands whilst tributes se

Glad to hear that Degreed, Night by Night and White Widdow put on a great show at the Underworld. However the Grimsby show last night was less than stellar in my opinion. Although Yardbirds is a great venue the evening wasn't helped by a mediocre turn out - no more than 50 paying ticket holders and that had thinned out by the time WW hit the stage at 10.40pm. I know our genre is "ni

Great show in Manchester last night. That's six times I've seen them live and haven't ever been disappointed. Support band however - Deer Tick - quite possibly the worst bands I've seen

Can't remember exactly but I would have said at least half the set-list was from Stereo Messiah. I think it is always a sign of a band's confidence in their new stuff that they load the set-list with it and don't just rely on the tried and trusted. It seemed to be very well received as well. To second Davehcd - both Vega and Newman put on great shows - definitely worth £10 of anyone's h

Saw Asia in Manchester on Wednesday - what a great show. An eclectic set-list spanning the entire John Wetton era(s) from the eponymous debut right through to this year's Gravitas release The man still has his voice and sounded better than ever. Geoff Downes never misses a note and the new guitar player - Sam Coulson, whilst lacking some of Steve Howe's finesse and nuances was top notch

Prices appear to bear no reflection as to the quality of the acts Vega + Degreed + Skin 'n Bone in York recently = £15 Robin Beck / HOL the same £15 although cancelled It's £25 - 30 to see "tribute" acts that attract 5x the audience - weird Current Foreigner / Europe / FM tour was £38 and worth every penny - 3 fantastic bands!!

Saw him 2011 on The Bare Bones Tour in Orlando. Intimate venue - c.1000 capacity Unbelievably good - just him, his acoustic guitar and a piano player. Easily in my top 5 all time gigs Wouldn't hesitate to see him again

+1 for John Wetton especially given his well documented battle with the bottle and his more recent health scares I think sometimes it looks (sounds) like he's not bothered because it comes so damn easy.

Asia! John Wetton will barely acknowledge John Payne's existence let alone sing his songs. I believe Dave Gallent's biography of the band was even re-written to remove the years Payne fronted the band - sad!! No mention of any Payne era releases on website despite Geoff Downes being a fixture and both Howe and Palmer dipping in and out both on record and live performances. Compounded

Since reforming John Wetton has given it big about how Asia can only be the original four! Seems his view has changed now Steve Howe has jacked it in! Somewhat hypocrital!! But that's a trait also demonstrated by Geoff Downes who has seemingly tried to distance himself from the Payne era. John Payne may not have the heritage of Wetton and Downes but he's just as talented and is twice

I was also at the Bingley show on Monday. FM delivered on every level - great set list and crystal clear sound. As said above they look like they are really enjoying themselves. For me Vega were more than a letdown. I'm a huge Vega fan - but the 6 song set failed to capture any audience interest. It started OK but the last 3 songs sounded out of tune to my uneducated ears!! A bad day at the
