I actually listen to Hot Space more than the entire Innuendo album. I love the title track, but nothing much else sticks for me. Going back to Hot Space/Break Free video. What understandably the Yanks failed to see, was it was a parody of UK soap opera Coronation St. And to this day Roger looks uncomfortably waaaaay too good in that schoolie outfit :D

Well done, you lasted one more episode than I did. Fully agree with all you say about it. While it never aimed to be highbrow before, it's really come down to the level of so much other shite around. The human/hyena cross alone is enough to turn it off .... OTT false 'laughing' at the slightest comment.

Biased as a fan, but Cheap Trick's Music For Hangovers is fantastic.

I remember they played in a local pub here in Manchester back in the day. Steve Zodiac's amp blew, and mate who lived nearby lent him one of his. :D

Loved them for a long time, saw them many times, but then fell out of love with them for some reason. I think maybe they became a bit samey. I still go back to the first two albums now and then, and was reading an interview recently, and hoe James had written most melodies on piano not guitar, so might check the new one out.

Rick Neilsen has a sweater that reads 'My Singer Is Better Than Your Singer' (which actually is true of any band you wish to refer to ;-)) which isn't derogatory to call RZ 'my singer', but to me rather endearing. DLR likely saying the same kinda thing, but then come on, he loves to cause mayhem and controversy, it's why we love him.

Of course. Coming up: Local Southern/country rock band Between The Vines on 19th. A Foreigner's Journey. Roger Taylor Sweet Sparks Cheap Trick .... all booked and raring to go. Plus the monthly First Thursday Comedy Club at Bury Met. Booked up to January for that. Went last Thursday, it was back to zero social distancing capacity, and a sell out. The virus isn't going away.

I think they have released some solid albums since reforming. The 'debut' 1999, God & Guns, Last, Vicious Cycle are favourites. Personally happy they reformed. Would think Ronnie would be proud to see his little brother carrying the name on. My only gripe is that the live set is essentially One More From The Road over and over. (Which given it's one of the very best live albums out th

I was a huge fan back then. Loved every album up to 'Let Me Up'. Onstage very few could touch them. Great energy, and the songs really came to life ... though I never liked the live versions of Breakdown, where he would stretch it waaay too long with added histrionics, lol I know it goes against popular opinion, but for me, TP's involvement with the Wilbury's seemed to 'dilute' his fire and pa

My comment above generated the following response by PM: :D 'Hi there I didn't want to call you out on the board because I think people that do that are rude, but I wanted to address your post towards Ken. You should always be kind. You never know the story behind why people do what they do. Guesses of malicious intent can be completely wrong. Ken may be gone from posting, but I k

Milked it for all it was worth certainly, including happily appearing on Never Mind The Buzzcocks TV show, in their infamous 'line up' round. Clearly now looking for a fast buck. Wanker.

A real favourite venue to visit. The gig itself is fantastic, as is it's setting in the very centre of the town. Some top pubs and eateries to make a weekend of it. But if planning to stay over, get somewhere booked, it gets very busy towards Christmas, especially on a Saturday! We are there the Saturday after for Sweet with Limehouse Lizzy. (Old Bridge pub, literally next door booked.)

Very true, according to reports, Robin Zander, one of the few who has been lucky to mostly defy age vocally, was below par for Cheap Trick's first two or three gigs, helped by having his son on BV's.

A huge broad spectrum to choose from. The Cocteau Twins and Japan are from opposite ends, but I love both.
