Thanks Scott,
Never saw anything about Houston supposedly headlining. There was a good crowd a couple of years back when they played with Crashdiet, Sepentine and Miss Behaviour
Me and my son mused on the way home how anyone could be in pocket - I'm sorry that you will be in the "red".
It is so sad that there is only moderate support for "new" bands whilst tributes sell out.
I saw H.e.a.t in Leeds at The Key Club in December - to my mind the very best of the modern era and they played to less than 200 people. Probably even less people at the Rescue Rooms recently to see Vega / Newman.
If people don't start supporting the independent clubs who put on these shows - we won't have anything but tribute bands to watch. Where will be the legacy for my sons?
The other issue for me is the age metrics of the crowds - my son who is 21 probably brought the average age of last night's audience down by about 2 years on his own!! We need to find a way of getting younger blood back into good proper rock music.
The masses are brainwashed into believing fluffy pop and boy-bands are the future and it works because they play to tens of thousands at highly inflated prices.
Outside of Melodic Rock /AOR my favourite band are The Gaslight Anthem - who should be absolutely huge - but seem to have peaked at audiences of around 3k. How I would love the likes of H.e.a.t and others to play to that size of audience - but 3k is still small fish against One Direction etc.
Anyways, I will keep turning out to support the bands I enjoy whilst ever it lasts.
And, sorry, but will be seeing Eclipse in York - only a 30 mile round trip!!
