Not so triple whammy at Yardbirds 8/3/15

Glad to hear that Degreed, Night by Night and White Widdow put on a great show at the Underworld.
However the Grimsby show last night was less than stellar in my opinion.
Although Yardbirds is a great venue the evening wasn't helped by a mediocre turn out - no more than 50 paying ticket holders and that had thinned out by the time WW hit the stage at 10.40pm.
I know our genre is "niche" and it was a Sunday night but at £6 the place should have been busier. Credit to the bands for trying to lift a moribund atmosphere.
Degreed opened up and I have to say were streets ahead and should have been headlining! 50 top quality minutes covering both albums and some new stuff.
NxN were average at best (even allowing for a replacement lead singer) but with only 5 songs and Aerosmith cover due to short rehearsal time should really have been relegated to openers.
White Widdow as headliners did only 45 mins - not sure whether Jules' sore throat or the complete lack of a crowd cut them short. What they did play was OK but just not as stage savvy as Degreed. Plus over 35 minutes to switch over was pretty poor.
So overall just about worth the 140 mile round trip - but only just!!
Hoping for much better from Eclipse and Tainted Nation next week and Vega and Bailey in early April.
