I've always felt that you can "Metal Up" or "Country Up"....or even "Pop up" a song. Doesn't always work but I actually think it has more to do with the artist and their interpretation rather than the fault of the underlying song.

Now, on the other hand, I don't think there is any way to take an EMINEM song and make it good....rap just doesn't crossover at all.
