I haven't heard the new album just yet, but it's on it's way. :-)
This is my favourite topic though and I love to read your thoughts, guys. Very interesting and I agree with a lot of what you guys have said. I like the comments about a good Magnum still being better than the rest. :-)
I couldn't possibly rank their albums or eras the way you two did there, as it changes too much from year to year (even day to day). I have my favourites though.
On The 13th Day is the best post reunion album, IMO. It's very close to a perfect modern Magnum album, and it only gets better the more you play it. Agree about Princess Alice in regards of the production issue...the songs are really good though. Can't agree about the production on Brand New Morning though, Tom, but the songs you mentioned are among the best they've come up with post reunion.
I like GLA and Sleepwalking too, and even some songs on Rock Art....but none of these albums are even close to their best.
I simply love all Magnum albums prior to Goodnight LA, with Chase The Dragon, II and OASN as clear favourites. Then we have the other two brilliant albums, Vigilante and WOH....which few, if any, other bands can rival.
Simply put, one of the best rock acts in the history of music, IMHO, and I can't wait to play the new one in full. From what I've heard it seems to be another winner.
