All good thoughts. Brand New Morning is the first album I bought after becoming a fan so it's always special for me.

Post-reformation, my ranking looks like, disregarding the newest for now:

1) The Visitation - Just a fantastic album from start to finish.
2) Brand New Morning - Heavy, no fillers in sight. We All Run, The Last Goodbye... classics!
3) Princess Alice & The Broken Arrow - Production issues aside, the songs are fantastic!
4) On The 13th Day - Some real standout songs. Putting Things In Place, Shadow Town.. great CD!
5) Into The Valley Of The Moon King - Also suffers from a less than stellar production and it has the most subdued opener of any album (Cry To Yourself, it was excellent live however). Still, the song No One Knows His Name is one of their very best.
6) Breath Of Life - It's not a bad album. It's actually pretty damn good. It's just not that great in context when you compare it to pretty much every other Magnum album.

As for the rest, I pretty much agree with your list. Rock Art has two monster classics (Back In Your Arms Again, On Christmas Day) but the blues rock efforts just isn't Magnum (Tell Tale Eyes, Hard Hearted Woman, etc). Same with Goodnight L.A, ironically the best songs on that album were the ones Tony Clarkin wrote himself. Shoot and Only A Memory, two of my all time favourites!

This new album will please you because there are a few throwbacks to their early sound and some other curveballs which made me smile. It's early days yet but I think this might end up on the top of the post-reformation list very soon.

EDIT: and yes Kevin, The Valley Of Tears is simply incredible. Agree with Andrew who said it was one of their best yet.

EDIT2: And damn Tony Clarkin can pen a lyric... so good.

A fiery storm will bring desolation
Too much left unsaid
While the moon lights up devastation
All of us misled
Sacred heart burns bright
You hear the people sing hallelujah
Every name a cross
While the actors still try to fool ya
Pacify the rot
Shake like the first night
