Re: Katy Perry is NOT bubblegum pop!

This isn't about the quality of the songs people write/have written for her.
This is about the fact that the songs are written for an audience that likes bubblegum stuff. Even if the fact that a lyric or 2 is deeper than say, the backstreet boys, the people who have Katy Perry in their iPods, a HUGE majority have the rest of their iPod filled with bubblegum.
Her songs aren't written for fans of rock, metal, punk, etc.
It's bubblegum pop songs for bubblegum pop radio stations and tours with bubblegum pop artists and appearances on shows like American Idol.
Despite what Captain Can Man thinks of the lyrics, a classification of something's marketing/promotion can't be changed because you get something deeper from a song than the 12-year-old girl it's clearly written for.
Also, Mr. Can Man, if her songs had 1 writer credited: Katy Perry, then we'd know exactly how much input she had, but because they mostly have 3-4 writers, we can only assume that she is on the Lindsay Lohan/Paris Hilton level until proven otherwise.
To paraphrase Forrest Gump: Bubblegum pop is as bubblegum pop does.
