Hurrah home sweet home at last.
What a top weekend. Great to break with my usual gods traditions and actually mingle rather than welding myself to the front and to have a few bevvies (gav u r a bad influence ;-) )
Well Great to hang out with everyone, Andrew nice to chat to you properly, Marty nice to meet u again (and ta for the tape) Mike N hilarious to meet you. There should be laws against u and Gav being allowed out together, I haven't laughed as much in a long long time, and I will forever remember your run around peningtons during talisman.
To the n ireland mob hope u got home alright and that pete has fresh underwear!!!
Well to much to tell u all but it was a fantastic weekend. Saturday was cool with gods not starting till later, gave us time to chill out. Sadly due to a bit of an error in the time we thought the day started missed out on Raine (altho what i saw of em on friday was good) and er most of pride (see u at danger danger)
Ok onto the bands Lost weekend er don't like em so beer and a chat.
Urban Tale, again were great, to me should have been higher up the bill than grand illusion.
Grand illusion, sadly didn't do it for me so more mingling.
Stan Bush, don't know much of his stuff but again he certainly put on a good show.
Dare, ok bit biased here but I love this band. Only the second time i have ever had teh chance to see them and it made me wanna see more of them. Only complaint that we don't get much off blood from stone album. Scary thing is it just me or is Darren looking scarily like david hasseloff (actually so is vinny burns, twilight zone anyone).
Sunday was a knackering day, think a few of us agree the pm start on sat was much better for us. HAd to cut short my saturday nite t make sure I would be up in time for sunday starting.
Talon, not heard em before but enjoyed em and they were entertaining (how the singer didn't split his pants i will never know.
Evidence one, again a pleasant surprise, most of em looked like they should be in pantera so I wasn;t sure what to expect. Please please tho, next time make sure the drummer wears trousers, a man in underpants at that time of day was not a welcome sight.
Nexx - was great to see them again. It is so good to have a decent female fronted band on the scene again. Patricia's stage presence has improved s omuch now too, looked so much more confident than last time. She really needs to take me shopping too cuz she has some great outfits :-)
Dany VAughn - what can i say he could sing the telephone book and receive a rapturous reception. Nice to see him bring Patricia and Bernado out again. Was great when the guys from pride joined him, do enjoy the acoustic show but having seen him do that a lot now it was cool to hear him rocking out again. Danny start playing meet me in the night again or else!!
Burns Blue. Ok I admit I'm biased here, Vinny being one of my main reasons for attendance this year. Bit of a bummer having to follow Danny as a lot of the Vaughn regulars were there and bit tough following a guy who is adored so much. Well looked like me and the front row enjoyed ourselves, was a shame to not be familiar with his stuff but the new stuff sounded great. Band looked like they enjoyed themselves (crikes Vinny think that's the most I have ever seen you move). Only critisism is the don't really look like a band yet, its ok to stand together u know lol. Anyway love Sam's voice, but please please please don't ever let him out in that shirt again!! In fact may I volunteer my services as wardrobe assistant??? Look forward to seeing em again.
At this point food became a neccessity. I can not believe that the only option in Peningtons was pie and peas. Come back Wigan all is forgiven!!! It was absolutely ridiculous, it was bad enuff no food on the saturday but at least somewhere a couple of doors down was open. Sunday was a disgrace. Its a long day and its quite a hike to macdonalds!!! Luckily this year there was a lull as i had no interest in Ken tamplin (and after hearing him murder rosanna I'm not sorry i missed most of his set)but I would have been very pissed off if i had been forced to make a choice in missing any bands i liked.
BAck to beer and mingling after being fed. Royal hunt hmm good at what they do i guess but really not my thing at all.
Bob - Need i say anything, Why oh why did he get to bore and annoy me for like 3 days????
Talisman -- absolutely blinding. An absolute criminal act that they had a very short set duw to bob boring us to tears for too long. After being a little disappointed in humanimal at last years z rock (had never heard em and didn't live up to the hype). Had great expectations after jeff at last years gods and cavern earlier this month, i was certainly not disappointed, can't wait to see them again.
Bizarrely after being shattered all day i was suddenly wide awake and forced to stay up for more beer and hilarity!!!!
So anyone for a pint??? Can't wait to do it all again.
