Yes and No. I'd say views/reviews/gossip tend more to "scar" my own impressions, even after the fact.

I decide if I like something, however I do get some images in my head that will never leave me, 20 years later even. And that bothers me.

That is the main reason that I don't read reviews ahead of time.
