Interesting choice for CR, but I can see their point. Not going to get involved in the Album of the Year debate on here with this one, but after a lot of hard work with this album I have grown to really like it. I love bands that try some new ideas (Von Hertzen Bros, Pendulum spring to mind) and Mastodon have chucked loads of stuff into the mix here - even some melody!!! Some really cracking songs, and a few wacky failures, but they follow their instincts and you either get it or you don't. The way bands should think. Really superb musicians and a monster production.

Well worth the effort if you like something outside the usual box.
