Eclipse is Journey doing a hard rock record. I hated it at first and now its has grown on me a little but still is in no way there best work. It sure took balls to make it but as Hanuk said (No melodic hooks, no big melodies, no bombastic keyboards, ridiculously long and boring songs). And yes it reminded me of when Journey did Red13 after a hit with Arrival. Its not a terrible album but Journey is all the above.....and is Jon Cain even on this record? When I listen thinking this Neils baby and more hard rock then I like it.But if I play it for those who were Journey fans of old they don't get it either. Sure the arnel story helped push sales of his first effort somewhat but the overall lack of sales on this on speaks volumes.
