Listened to this at least three-four times. well, I will most certainly say it is different. So this is a Phil Collen tune huh? So we have three distinctively different sounding tracks slated for Mirrorball... really none of them fit together or create a specific flow of any sorts.
None of them really fit into any of their previous albums - which may be their intentions to begin with. Three tracks, all written/composed separately (Joe, Sav, Phil)...you can hear each of their influences in their own compositions.
I think DL fans need to go into listening to these tracks with a pre-notion of hoping for any retro-sounding or similar identities to previous albums, because they are going to be disappointed.
Are they looking to reinvent themselves subtly after all theses years - maybe. They have been locked into a stereotype sound (akin to HnD, Pryo, Hyst)...they tried to break the mold with SLANG - did not work too well, and again with "X"...better.
It is not a bad track - not the best by anymeans...sounds more like a b-side. In fact all three are b-side quality. Perhaps as they are working on the "new" album they felt these tracks are good enough to record - just odd balls for the new album - and did not want to waste them as b-sides? Who knows.
Lets hope the band has enough material to keep these off the next album...
