I've got three off the top of my head that should have been all over rock radio in the late 80's /early 90's:
King's X
Mr. Big
Company Of Wolves
And there are many examples of already established acts that had their new music 'fade away' from rock radio. Suddenly it was as if all these listeners didn't care about melrock in any form anymore.B-ship! Now,to be cool you had to just adore Soundgarden,Pear Jam,Alice In Chains,Stone Temple Pilots, etcetc. Downtuned, depressing / crap vocalist junk. And all the melrock acts felt they had to tune down and write in that vein to stay successful. And they were partially right, but most didn't have a chance due to their former melrock status. I lost respect for lots of bands who jumped ship back then.I realize that rock radio got too caught up in the hair band scene.Every band looked/sounded the same,it seemed. And that was part of it all, too. But this is a good point...how many other acts were around then that should have been lauded on radio and promoted? Maybe not too many as grunge was 'all that' by then. Who has some other examples? T
