For that price, Glen would have to come over and blow my dog for an hour, then put the video up on YouTube for all to see.

Nah, even then it ain't worth it.

Niv has it right - most autobiographies nowadays tend to be self-congratulatory affairs, with all the requisite triumph-over-hardship cliches. Everything gets rationalized & justified from a self-serving viewpoint.

What usually marks the difference is whether you suspect they actually wrote the book themselves or just churned it out through a ghost writer like most of them. For instance, look at Sarah Palin - no way did she write a word of hers. She just sat down for some long interview sessions with the ghost writer, had an aide approve some things, then sat down for final notes.

But every now and then, you'll get a crazy bastard who sat down and actually banged out 500 pages. Usually, these "book deals" are just standard cash grabs these days....
