It was a grower for me. I thought it was a bit too mellow at first, and even though I wish there were some more "rocking" numbers, I'm absolutely loving it now.
Phil - No kidding. I'm still really surprised that a full Loud Lion release hasn't come out yet. It's already been two or three years in the making.
Lastly, for all those who have "Redhead", are you aware that there are three versions of the album? There's the initial indie release he did on Aware records, which was followed by the Columbia re-release some 6 months later, and then the Japanese version of the album.
The first version of the album has the songs "Sayonara," (which had backing vocals from Puffy AmiYumi) and "Ursula Major, Ursula Minor" - while the second version contains the songs "Get Up" and "That's When I Crash" instead. Both albums also feature a slightly different running order of songs, and both also have the hidden bonus track "Dance Dance Babydoll Dance" (which IMHO, is one of the best songs on the album, and I don't know why it was only a hidden track). On the Aware release it can be found after about 12 or so minutes of silence following the last track "3's A Charm". On the Columbia version, however, it's still a hidden track tacked onto the end of "3's A Charm", but instead of just added extra silence, there's another hidden track - "Feet Don't Fail" - preceding it. This last tune is also a regularly listed song on the Aware version. Finally, the Japanese version has a slightly different version of "Sayonara", plus one other bonus track, "Just a Song", co-written by Matt Mahaffey of Self.
And for you complete-ist's out there, there's also a promo only EP called "Natural Highlights: ...songs from Bleu's new album Redhead", which has one last previously unreleased track - "2 Cool 4 School" - which was co-written with Dan Wilson of Semisonic, who also co-wrote "Something's Gotta Give" on Redhead.
