I don't think people are surprised at where it all is ... I think the fact that no one seems to be able to get Pandora back in the box that is surprising folks.

It's sad because, like Denander (who wrote on this a few threads down), I used to love going into the record store to pick up new records. Now they're all gone. Browsing Amazon is nothing like browsing a record store in person. So, I buy a hell of a lot less than I used to. I've downloaded a few things but ultimately go and buy the cd (if I like it) or trash it (if I don't). I like having the cd, booklet, etc. But not much is released anymore that gets me excited.

The new generation just has no connection to the artists like we did. I think the quality has gone down dramatically. 15 years ago, an artist only had to write 10 songs max. Even then we didn't always love them all. With cds, they're expected to come up with 15 or more per cd.

Music is in a sad state and it's not getting better anytime soon unfortunately.
