Hi all,i have worked in local media for 10 years now and to be honest local press is the ONLY thing that does make money right now from a advertising perspective which is what i am involved in!!!!
Both internet and televisionjust doesnt give the local advertiser the same results that local press does!!!
I am often suprised bands dont use local press more to advertise especialy gig wise!!
I am a fan as some of you may know from my posts here of the band The Alarm and every time they play gigs in Manchester we run thanks to MPO(Mike Peters Organisation-Frontman of The Alarm) competitions to win tickets in quite a few of the local papers i deal with and this has had a in MPOs words helped have a significant increase in audience size on the last few tours!!!(we are talking like 15 pairs of tickets total comps wise)
Local press does have its place against new media if people and bands used it a bit more to their advantage!!!
Mick
