To agree you have a point, however.
There are some major big rock magazines and newspapers who charge way too much expensive prices for adveristing and its killing the artist/label/company, especially when some of these magazines want you to advertise but don't want to cover the artist/label with review, like what's with that huh attitude!!
Between £1-2K+ for a full page colour advert, and u don't get any features.....That's a lot of ££ to fork out and not got any coverage eh....Its ok if you are a major big boy label who always gets the coverage and can afford the big costs of advertising, but the little labels and artists suffer and they don't always, how can I say get feedback or sales as a result of advertising, thus coverage as well is crucial, but these high ranking magazines can't seem to take it in.
Magazines make their money on advertising, but some of these many shelf magazines need to rethink their pricing structures and bring their prices down, or get rid of editors stuck in in their old ways and bring in new blood who can suggest realistic price plans, then they will get more people advertising.
