Highlights of the weekend for me were Tyketto and Danger Danger.
Tyketto were awesome as always and I though the double guitar attack worked very well for them. Danny was sounding is great voice. The guys all worked really well together and looked like they were having a blast. Standing Alone sounded better than ever!
Danger Danger - Ted's energy is just so infectious, he looks like he's having the best time of his life up there and probably is. It was great to see Paul on stage with them again, but it would have been even better if he'd have sung something from Gildersleeves or Cockroach instead of Under The Gun. Great to see Danny Vaughn getting dragged up onstage to sing backing on Monkey Business too...Ted coming out in to the crowd a couple of times was cool too. Afraid Of Love was a nice suprise inclusion to the set.
Next up for me is a tie between Paul Laine's solo set and Mitch Malloy. Never seen Mitch before and it was awesome to hear nearly all of his debut. And a cover of Stone In Love too. Track from Faith sounded cool, but they'd sold out of CDs at the stand.
Paul was great, Dorrianna was song of the festival :) great voice, great to hear some of those songs live for the first time and a nice suprise with a couple of shugaazer songs. No Break Down The Barracades tho? Did he run out of time....
JSS would be my next choice. The Beautiful Mess material went over much better than I expected and I did enjoy hearing it live. Great choice of older material, but I could really do without that Disco medly at the end of the set - it's getting a bit old for me now....sorry... I missed Stand Up for his set tho...Jeff overran too, I saw him tell his band to cut a song. Wonder what they dropped?
I was really looking forward to Tall Stories, but I have to say I was a little dissapointed. They never really seemed to get goig...Steve seemed to struggle a bit for the first couple of songs but found his groove eventually. Was nice to hear stone in love, but I think the set was lost on a lot of the crowd and it didn't seem to pace itself very well....Stone In Love got played for the second time on Sunday :)
Firehouse, I'm sorry to say, I just don't get (ducks and runs). Sorry, never have, never will....
Valentine - shame about Hugo being ill, could tell there was something very wrong from the beginning. Full marks for effort tho.
Everyone else we either missed or only got to see part of their set, but I'm sure they were all great :)
