Another thing that i've found out recently talking to folks in the recording industry who know what the hell is going on....the way of the record label is going the way of the dodo. In the next few years, you can bet that a very established, very popular, household name band is going to do an electronic release only (where you pay X amount to download the all of the songs and artwork) and see ya later record companies....i'm seeing a lot of smaller bands on smaller labels going this route....

Also....another great tool is Myspace.com....i use that site to check out bands that i've heard of yet not heard before....it's another thing that record companies look at too when sizing up a band....
