Joe Satriani - one of the nicest guys in the biz! After a 3 hour show, he still hung around and spent a good 2 hours with his fans. 2 nights in a row!
Metallica - Lars was surprisingly cool. I actually played tennis with him in Sydney and he was more than friendly. Kirk was very talkative, and loved talking guitars! Jason was extremely nice and was willing to give up a lot of time, even half an hour before showtime. James was very standoffish. Didn't talk to him much at all.
Megadeth - Jimmy Degrasso! Lovely man. Dave Mustaine was very cool. Surprisingly had a lot of time for his fans! He caught me stealing one of Al Pitrelli's picks backstage, and winked at me and said he wont tell. Dave Ellefson was a really lovely guy as well. Al Pitrelli i only met briefly as i was scared he might notice one of his picks missing.
Jeff Scott Soto - spent a little bit of time with him after the Melbourne gig(cheers Andrew). Got some cool photos and signed stuff. Lovely man. And his wife was extremely nice as well.
Slayer - was lucky enough to hang out with Slayer for a whole weekend! Got to sit on stage with Machine Head while Slayer played at Festival Hall in Melbourne! Tom Araya is one of THE nicest guys you would ever meet! Watched them warm up back stage before the gig, and then walked the streets of Melbourne with Kerry King as he swigged from a Vodka bottle. No one was coming near us that night. He's one mean looking dude, but was extremely nice to us. He was a little full of himself, but so what.
Sevendust - One of the nicest bands you will ever meet. All the guys were extremely loyal to their fans.
Ozzy Osbourne - my best mate who worked for Sony at the time, sprung a meet and greet pass to me just before the show. It just so happenned to be my birthday the same day as the Ozzy show! It was and still is the best present anyone ever gave me! Meeting Ozzy and Zakk was a religious experience! Ozzy was exhausted after the show, so much so, that he was breathing from an oxygen tank! He still hung around for hours after the show and hung out with his fans! I had new found admiration for Ozzy and Zakk Wylde that night! And even Sharon was extremely lovely and was more than happy to pose for some photos!
Richie Kotzen - on my trip to LA 2 years ago, i went to Metal Skool at the Roxy on Sunset Strip. Bumped into Richie there and watched the show right next to him. He was nice enough! Didn't say a lot to him, i think he was nervous that i was from Australia and was going to stalk him. Also met the lead singer from Disturbed and Ben Moody from Evanescence the same night! Both were totally up themselves. But hey, i said g'day.
Offspring - all lovely guys. Met them all on the Ixnay tour. All were alot smarter than i thought as well. Had a ball with these guys. They look like nerds, but know how to party.
Pantera - Didn't meet Phil as he was extremely drunk, but met Rex, Vinnie and Dimebag after the show! I accidently brushed Rex with my texta as he was about to sign my Cowboys From Hell cd, and he grabbed my texta and drew an inverted cross on my forehead.
Dragon - finally met Todd Hunter a few weeks ago after their gig here in Melbourne. Lovely man, very humble! I was very drunk, but got to hang out with Mark Gable from Choirboys, Jenny Morris and Mark williams from Dragon. Was a great show, and a great end to the night.
Van Halen - Met them in the Cherone years at the Hard Rock Cafe in Melbourne! You were only allowed to get the new cd signed by the band, but i managed to sneak their debut and get it signed as well. Tried to get my Extreme stuff signed by Gary, but he refused. He looked way out of place. Everyone was cramming around Ed and no one was talking to Gary at all. When i made an effort, he pretty much looked through me anyway! Was great chatting with Eddie, but Michael Anthony was definitely the coolest guy in the band! Could have chatted with him for ages....
Mike Tramp - lovely guy and more than willing to have a chat and sign some stuff.
Have met plenty more cool bands/artists in my time. Have been extremely lucky when it comes to meeting my heroes, but don't want to bore you guys anymore...
