"Oh well - their label have screwed them again!"
That's funny. As I've mentioned elsewhere, Def Leppard have gone into the tank not because of musical taste or their label, but because they don't make good music anymore.
They can't sell records because they have no identity (or at least one that fans reject). The one thing they were good at -- metal -- has been laid to waste the last 18 years. The results show: after Hysteria (their last good album) it has all been down hill.
Now of course they might feel its better to be non-metal and not popular vs. metal and popular. I guess that's their choice.
But Def Leppard will always be considered a pop-metal act, despite their pathetic attempts to change that perception. They may as well cash in on it.
