You're making things up again....

Augeri said he came down with some form of pneumonia on the road in 2005 where the cure was worse than the actual ailment. There is no proof he was told by doctors to stop touring immediately and they (Cain/Schon) forced him to go against doctor's orders or do anything. The immediate vocal rest direction was mentioned in the press release when SA finally departed (against his will, btw!) and Soto came in. Augeri had so many ups and downs during his tenure and the band helped to carry him along the way. How could Neal or Jon know 2005 was different? SA was always so hit or miss.

Augeri did tell Andrew in a 2013 MR interview that he wanted a slower touring schedule and he couldn't persuade them. So there's that.

I think it's complicated but there's two sides to every story.
I've seen the band lower the keys, delay dates, cancel tours, offer vocal assistance - all of it in service of helping their singers carry on.
