I think my point is getting missed so I’ll just end with saying again this conversation is not about AI music itself. I don’t care if people like it or if kids like it or if no humans will be making music 10 years from now.
My point is about people using AI to make music and calling themselves musicians. AI is not like “another technology” used to make music like multitracking and reverb and synthesizers.
It is outsourcing creativity. Anyone can do it because it is not actually making music. It’s asking a machine to make it for you.
Again, my mom, my mailman, my accountant… they can all go into Suno and make songs. Nothing about what they “create” is any different than what a musician uses to “flesh out” their ideas or build their demos.
It is music made by a machine, not a human.
Enjoy it or not, I don’t care and that’s not the argument I’m making here.
Just don’t call yourself a musician any more than someone describing a picture to ChatGPT and comes out with a completely generated image calls themselves a “photographer.”
