I guess I'm missing something here, maybe it was covered elsewhere but...

How did independent musicians without label backing or resources ever afford to release their music before they could just fire up Claude and spit out a logo and an album cover?

How did they manage to write and record songs if they couldn't play a few guitar chords into Suno and come out with a fully fleshed out demo?

Is there some new style of music that can't be replicated without AI? Like, you couldn't make a Led Zeppelin song without an electric guitar. Is there a genre that has come out in the past few years that you just cannot make without AI?

Isn't that the equivalent of comparing AI to electric guitars, synthesizers or multitrack recording?

I had someone ask me, after my voice was permanently damaged, if they could just "AI" my voice and record some demos with me "singing" on them.

WHere's the fun in that?

Sorry unless I'm missing something, go to Envato or Storyblocks and pay for a cool picture for your album. Pay a kid at your local community college to design your logo if you can't design a logo yourself.

Go to open mic night and find a drummer if you can't afford a drummer.

Or go ahead and use keyboards and samples and loops to make your drum tracks, instead of asking AI to generate one for you.

Do a kickstarter campaign if you want to pay for studio time.

Geez wasn't it just 10 years ago people were amazed that they could record entire albums on their iPads?

Alex Garland makes movies on iPhones.

Sorry I don't buy it.

[dana carvey "back in my day and we liked it" rant over]
