It's a different type of melodic - it's just not "caaaarieee" or "rock now, rock the night woah woah". to me the chorus of Last Look at Eden, for one instance, has just as much melodic sensibilities as those, but much less cheese.
I guess this is just something else we will have to agree to disagree on…
