I don’t know about that. To me, John’s only truly killer solo album is Face the Truth. Total Control had its moments, but it still sounded a lot like the Europe material he said he was trying to move away from. Another Destination was solid, but it was tough to follow Face the Truth. Everything after that has had a few decent tracks, but overall it’s been pretty forgettable.

In my opinion, John is a bit stuck in a certain sound. And while I say that as probably the biggest Europe fan on the board, that style does make a lot of his songs and solos seem similar. I like both guys, but think Kee Marcello helped change Europe’s guitar sound for the better on OOTW, and he was better at mixing things up so it didn’t feel like more of the same.
