I don't think he sets out to "improve" songs. I think he is just a fan and a music lover like all of us, but the difference being, he has the talent to actually cover these songs that he loves so much. I honestly think the guy is just doing his own thing with these songs and has no ambition or inclination to try and "best" the originals. Although... Sometimes he does like in the case of "Sign Of The Times."
