To be fair, I actually like this album and the second one too, but when the Desperate Heart song came on - I almost thought I was listening to Anyway You Want It. It was kind of shocking.

I do think the production is a little sterile. It should have been a more natural sounding production, but clearly this band wanted to use effects and other sonic enhancements for their sound. Since these albums came out many years ago, maybe they were going for a more modern sound at the time vs. a more classic rock type sound.
